UPDATED: Rush Limbaugh Pimps Principles (& No One Understands RIGHTS from Wrongs!)

Conservatism,Constitution,Feminism,Gender,Individual Rights,Intelligence,Republicans

In the proud history of conservative serial stupidity, Rush Limbaugh’s latest faux pas takes the cake. An issue concerning constitutional principles fell into his large lap. But the conservative movement’s self-aggrandizing, insufferably pompous Mouth, pimped it.

A privileged Georgetown University law school student named Sandra Fluke was permitted to make the case before a “nonofficial congressional committee” as to why the state should compel the insurance industry to provide sisters with birth-control pills. (Some committee members were in tears listening to this cloistered cow tell of women turning away from the pharmacy counter for lack of funds. Go to the Republic of Biafra for a taste of deprivation, Fluke!)

This flaccid fool was supremely repulsive in her perverse conviction that a woman’s “reproductive rights” were the responsibility of other taxpayer. Fluke is a testament to the destructive role of women in our politics, forever petitioning to expand the power of the state at the expense of individual rights. (Read a corrective about natural rights, here.)

Recall, Limbaugh once launched a sneering assault on a deformed Michael J. Fox, aping Fox’s Parkinson’s-induced spasms, instead of critiquing Fox for petitioning Congress for unconstitutional favors, just like Fluke.

When it came to Fluke, Limbaugh flunked as badly. He began thus:

“What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke [sic] who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex — what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”

Limbaugh then said, “ok, so she’s not a slut. She’s round-heeled.” “Round-heeled” is an old-fashioned term for promiscuity.

This is entertaining, but besides the point.

But here is where the middle-aged, so-called conservative loses it, sounding like a lusty old voyeur:

“So Miss Fluke, if we are going to … pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.”

Game. Set. Match, Sandra Fluke. Limbaugh not only lost the argument to this inconsequential woman, but he also helped anoint a future Democratic, feminist, front-woman and leader.

Conservatives have a hard time with first principles; perhaps they don’t have any. Thus, they can never win an argument with a liberal, for all they have in their intellectual arsenal is a Benthamite utilitarianism (except that Jeremy Bentham was really smart).

Why are conservatives Addicted to That Rush?

UPDATE (March 3): No One Understands RIGHTS from Wrongs! Your point is not the point either, Robert Glisson. The point is that conservatives and liberals alike do not have any mandate to promote responsibility vis-a-vis the legislator. The Fluke female can screw herself silly; quit preaching to her! People are sick and tired of conservatives in their bedroom and liberals in all the other rooms. The only point here is that no taxpayer, coerced by Congress, should be compelled to pay for Fluke’s personal choices, good or bad. I give up on anyone understanding what a natural right means. I do, however, get why people are Addicted to that Rush, who is not “more often right than wrong,” but is both insufferably self-righteous and wrong.

I agree with you. Rush is a bombastic talk show host who basically does more harm than good. I was confused today as I kept seeing comments & photos of Palin,Ron Paul and even G.Bush coming up on fb from my liberal friends. They were all asking the GOP to “stay out of their bedroom” (and worse.) After reading your blog,I understand where they are coming from. All Rush did was create a feminist, birth control pill carrying,Democrat leader out of this situation. Thanks,Rush!

Hmm…not so fast on the Game-Set-Match Fluke. I say Stalemate, because don’t we all lose when we’re spending days ripping on Limbaugh’s lazy sense of humor? We should be laughing our butts off at a 30-year old Georgetown law student lobbying Congress because her colleagues in the ambulance chasing profession are going broke paying for birth control? (Incidentally, where are the vouchers for my Trojans?)

It pains me, but I’m going to play the Limbaugh advocate on one point of his always awkward “satire”. This pertains to his desire to watch the online videos of the Flake putting our tax dollars to good use. In full context Limbaugh says, “So, if we’re gonna sit here, and if we’re gonna have a part in this, then we want something in return, Ms. Fluke: And that would be the videos of all this sex posted online so we can see what we are getting for our money.”

So, as I understand it, the video reference is not from some prurient desire, but addresses the need for taxpayer transparency (i.e. making sure our money is used for the purposes it was allocated).

In the end, a blown opportunity by Limbaugh.

Still boggles my mind that people like Fluke, Matt Damon, and Elizabeth Warren are hailed as hero’s in the media for their flimsy justifications for the “virtue” of Bigger Government.

you ask “Why are conservatives Addicted to That Rush?

Answer: real conservatives are not so addicted. Only assholes, haters, and really stupid people.

In Conservative partisan Fox-Limbaugh world, nasty equals brilliant.

I was on Facebook pointing out that people should pay for their own sex lives and this socialist (by his own admission) wrote his tearful tale of how expensive “reproductive services” is and I wrote that since so many people agree, they can freely donate to a charity to provide the poor with contraceptives just as I gave $ 5000 to the Salvation Army to provide the poor with meals.

His response was so typical of these culture warriors denouncing the Salvation Army as “homophobic religious bigots” and I responded that as far as I know, the Army does not refuse a cup of chowder or a bed in cold weather to gay atheists. That only got him railing how libertarians/conservatives are all hypocrites since we “reap the benefits” of government. I said that the lion in the zoo might eat the food from the zookeeper but he’d rather be free, all the same (same with slave living in the shack provided by the master)….

But when it comes to culture warriors (secular left or religious right), it is MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY and logic/principles be damned.

Was listening to Rush rehashing this today, and the image in my mind was “El Rushbo” dropping a lighted match into a gasoline-soaked D.C. Conservatives have little political energy and capital to spare, and it’s burning feverishly as we speak over this ridiculousness. Very unwise. .

I guess I’m an asshole, hater and/or really stupid. I listen to Rush daily and usually agree with him 100%. Yes, his style is often abrasive and in some cases it hurts his message, as in this case. But, as in this case, his message is usually correct. Those of you who can’t follow the meaning need to pay attention to content and get past delivery. We can’t all communicate like William F. Buckley. Sometimes we need to call a spade a spade and other times we should call it a bloody shovel. I’m just a red state rube so I’m not elite enough to trash a soldier fighting on my side just because he doesn’t talk like Lord Mountbatten.

This contraception blizzard began back when George S. asked Santorum a certain question. Once again, Democrats set trap, faux-con Stupid Party grins and falls into trap.

It’s not that Rush isn’t entertaining; Bill Mahler is entertaining as well. I’ve heard both and Rush is right more often than his counterpart. I don’t listen or watch either one; because neither one have taste. The point of most issues deal with individual responsibility; abortion could be eliminated if women only took precautions. It is not my responsibility to pay for her precautions or lack of them when she has an abortion. The issue Rush was arguing was in regard to the churches that do not believe in using artificial means of preventing pregnancy having to pay for someone who does. This promotes the concept that you have to keep me in booze, because I like my wine. Instead Rush has to make porn comments. Liberty lost the point more than Rush.

Honestly, Limbaugh misses the point completely here. This isn’t about whether Fluke has sexual relations or not; it’s whether she should be able to force other people to pay for it. Simple enough.

  10. Robert Glisson

“he only point here is that no taxpayer, coerced by Congress, should be compelled to pay for Fluke’s personal choices, good or bad.” That’s what I thought I said in “It is not my responsibility to pay for her precautions or lack of them when she has an abortion. The issue Rush was arguing was in regard to the churches that do not believe in using artificial means of preventing pregnancy having to pay for someone who does.” I didn’t know I was preaching to anyone by that comment.

20 years after the end of the cold war, America has become a “democracy spreading” empire expanding without any self-restraint. 10% of our Gross Domestic Product is for borrowing for ever-expanding government. Prices for basic commodities are rising while the Federal Reserve pumps trillions in an effort to “stimulate” the economy. The free enterprise system has been irreparably eroded by (quasi-fascist) crony corporations micromanaged by hundreds of thousands of unaccountable and unconstitutional “regulations” not even passed by Congress.

    HOWEVER –

What could possible be more important in 2012 other than a Kultur-Kreig between Pope Santorum and Archbishop Limbaugh and the “abstinence education prayer-in-school” mob versus the Messiah Obama and Prophet Maher and the “government provided condoms Heather-Has-Two-Mommies” mob?????

Ilana incorrectly believes in “individual rights” – a quaint, treasonous, and outdated concept. America is a “SOCIETY” and the voters must decide how WE all think. WE have the freedom to choose our dictator every 4 years who gets to decide OUR rules – OUR medical care, OUR toilet bowls, OUR lightbulbs, OUR retirement plans …. our – us – we – America – what the hell is an individual right? Didn’t WE all read Orwell? Long live Big Brother!

For Patriots to take back anything and regain all of the ground we have lost, up to the point of losing our nation, we will have to employ love and compassion as our driving force, as maybe it should be. We must use love as the counterweight to evil that is like rising water in a tsunami ravage area. Women vote. There is only one way to secure their vote, love.
