Europe Turns Right

I’m proud to say that my people, those who are based in The Netherlands, turned out for the great Geert Wilders, and are celebrating a tremendous win for the brave Dutchman. “a whopping 17 percent of the vote in the Netherlands went to the Wilders anti-Islamic Freedom Party.”

The Christian Science Monitor preferred a broad-brush indictment of Wilders as a “far-right politician.” To the Dutch who elected him, he’s a hero. I guess his constituents believe in halting the Islamic takeover of the Netherlands. Bad form, I know. My family too is funny that way; they don’t much appreciate the rising assaults on Jews and Jewish businesses that have coincided with an ongoing, generous influx of Muslim immigrants. “Xenophobia” in journalistic parlance.

Unlike the American hard-right, Wilders is a friend of Israel.

About the EU’s efforts to concentrate power while obliterating the ancient nations of Europe, not enough bad things can be said. I tried to cover it in Adieu to the Evil EU.

Isn’t that true of Jean-Marie Le Pen of the National Front and most of the traditional Right in Europe?

Also, the British National Party (BNP) did fairly well. I don’t really buy into the rhetoric of the Labour party socialists that the BNP is “racist” (a tag given to any party strongly against mass immigration), but unfortunately they are statists when it comes to the economy.

I got to vote today – we had a Hamas supporter [gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2007/09/rise-and-fall-of-dr-esam-omeish.html ] and a Korean-American member of a “hate crimes commission” (shades of Dear Leader Kim-Jong-Il) running in the Democratic primary for delegate to “represent” me in Richmond, VA. No doubt that “far-right” and “far-left” parties attract a share of wackos – and “middle of the road” ones attract petty criminals like Blogojevich and Agnew as well as unrepentent torturers like Cheney, Messianic visionaries like Obama, grinning warmongers like Bush & McCain. A “do-nothing” like Gerald Ford is about as it good as it gets, nowadays. It is why people should adhere to the warning in 1 Samuel 8 to not put their faith in government. Hell, most of the Europeans didn’t even bother to show up to vote and its hard to blame them.

I am just as proud of Mr Wilders and the general shift to the right in the Netherlands and Great Britain. Now if only we can have compulsory psychometric tests for all new politicians…

Indeed, many right-leaning, Euro-skeptical, and immigration-reducing parties did well. The UK Independence Party and the Danish People’s Party did well as well. I don’t know if it will have any effect but one can always hope.

“Isn’t that true of Jean-Marie Le Pen of the National Front and most of the traditional Right in Europe?”

Le Pen himself has admitted that the European New Right has nothing to do with the old, bourgeoisie right wing. He has said that he is economically right-wing, socially left-wing, and nationally French. Economically “right-wing” as in national socialist, of course.

“I don’t really buy into the rhetoric of the Labour party socialists that the BNP is “racist” (a tag given to any party strongly against mass immigration), but unfortunately they are statists when it comes to the economy.”

They have an NS past, and arguably present. They have odd positions such as requiring the man of every home to own a working firearm after they have been released from (compulsive) military duty. Basically, every position amounts to the compulsive enforcement of the national identity from the center of power downwards to the masses, which is what the Euro New Right is all about.
