The NYT’s Half-Truths & Wholesale Lies About South Africa

My VDARE.COM column is up. Here’s an excerpt from the column, which I had titled “The NYT’s Half-Truths & Wholesale Lies About South Africa”:

“Fourteen years and approximately 300,000 murders after black rule devastated my homeland, the New York Times is shocked to discover that South Africa is fast disappearing down the same hole into which Rhodesia, rest in peace, was dropped. [Post-Apartheid South Africa has entered an Anxious Era, by Barry Bearak, October 5, 2008)

I guess some latitude is in order. It took decades and piles of dead bodies before Robert Mugabe lost luster in the eyes of the American MainStream Media [MSM]. By the time the megalomaniac Mugabe was conferred with honorary doctorates (1984 and 1986) and a knighthood (1994), he had already done his “best” work: slaughter an estimated 20,000 innocent Ndebele in Matabeleland (1983), with whose leader, Joshua Nkomo, he refused to share power.

Western conventional wisdom was, well, no wiser.”

That description of Black Economic Empowerment sounded like what happened when small businesses in Little Italy acquired a “partner” from the Mafia who provided “protection” – e.g. a pure and unadultarated shakedown. It is vastly worse than just letting some mediocrities into elite colleges. I wonder if some of the South Africans (your sister?) should emigrate to Mexico and then just sneak up north for the amnesty – but the joke is that Mexico probably enforces its border better than Bush, McCain, or Obama ever would. Well, the Barry Bearack article is indicative why Israel will never include 6 million Palestinians “returning” to Israel.

It shouldn’t have taken a rocket scientist to predict what would happen to South Africa and Rhodesia, much less take this many years to become aware of the situation. The NYT is many things but it is neither stupid nor ill informed. They were and are willing to sacrifice lives in order to further their agenda. Watch out when it starts happening ror real in the United States.

I am old enough to remember when ousting the white Afrikaner Government was the cause celebre du jour of the Left and their spokesmen in the MSM. Few were more strident in this cause than was Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA). Funny, though, how — now that they have realized their goal for black rule in the former RSA — they never seem to admit responsibility or apologize for the harm they have done. It is a crime what happened. A crime. And how many lives — both black and white — have been lost to this leftist folly. Now a strategic vacuum a mile wide has been opened up and look for either China or Russia to fill it. South Africa will never be neglected for long, as it is INCREDIBLY rich in natural resources and located in a strategically critical geographical location.
