As if the text of President Obama’s address on immigration, Nov. 20, 2014, was not hackneyed enough, here are some of the most clichéd phrases about his executive-authority amnesty, delivered at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas:
* “I will never give up.” (Like a Gloria Swanson scene, “hilariously over-dramatic and overwrought.”)
* “Come out of the shadows and get right with the law.”
* “You’re willing to pay your fair share of taxes.”
* “If they really want to help families and really help our economy, they need to get it done …”
* “We are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws.”

* “This is who were are” (a cliche that comes before a list of policy horrors Americans must accept if they are to fulfill their promise).
