If you see Obama as a large city alderman, councilman, mayor, whatever term you prefer to describe those who control large liberal cities, you can understand him. He’s used to a system that fails badly but always has the surrounding county/state/country to get cash from once they make a mess of things. The buck has never stopped with any of Obama’s beliefs or plans and he’s just doing what he’s always habitually done, assume there’s someone out there whose assets he can loot. He’s about to discover where the buck stops.

Several points in no particular order: (1) Some of the tax increases are irrelevant in that there are not likely to BE much profits, capital gains or dividends in the next several years. (2) Contrary to some on the right, I think that the sheeple need to see the effects of the profligate spending they are endorsing – hence a big honking gasoline tax would PAINfully remind the population of the waste “stimulus” they are gleefully backing (70% approval). (3) For decades, the budget balancers have made assumptions (such as on the AMT) that never take place to “prove” that the deficit will come down. (4) Most of the spending is inefficient and unconstitutional. (5) Even if one bailed out the AIG’s, why should mal-investors get 100 cents on the dollar (vs. 75 cents) while taxes on responsibly productive people get raised?? (6) The one decent tax cut that I’d like to see – to take off 70 cents on the dollar for donation to charities giving emergency aid to the poor (food, shelter… e.g. Salvation Army…) would be useful to replace the cancerous WELFARE state with voluntary compassion – Obama is heading in the opposite direction.
