We don’t harbour much of a grudge against Britons. A people’s character is rarely mirrored by their government, and vice versa. We are all victims of the same corrupt international politicking, although one has to admit that we Afrikaners are experiencing the lion’s share.

But don’t count us out just yet. We’ve beat one empire, we can beat another.

Ilana states, “I bet a hate for the Brits was another Israeli and Afrikaner uniting factor…”. Well, the Brits did place Afrikaner civilians–women and children–into concentration camps during the Second Boer War (for the ladies’ and kids’ protection, of course) while they torched Afrikaner farmlands with a scorched earth policy that would have made William Tecumseh Sherman proud. We hear nothing of this in the U. S., through our history classes.

I’d add that not all Britons were happy about that circumstance, including this British woman, Miss Emily Hobhouse, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Hobhouse, who brought to the attention of the British public the disastrous conditions Afrikaner women and children were exposed to during the Second Boer War.

Old wounds die hard, if they ever die at all, and I wouldn’t begrudge the Afrikaners for not quite trusting the British at this juncture.

Living in Pretoria, we see crime every day. Just yesterday a 79 year old man was shot to death by a 16 year and 21 year old. This is a daily occurence and the ANC does nothing about it.

I served in the old SADF and had the opportunity to jump with some of the IDF paratroops at Bloemfontein. We had serious fun and I have the utmost respect for the lads.

I was offered a chance to jump with them in Tel Aviv, but did not go.

This country is going down the toilet and the current bunch (ANC) want nothing to do with Israel, but side with terrorists.

As we say over here : ‘n boer gebore, ‘n boer sal ek bly.

Born a boer (Afrikaner), always an Afrikaner.

One of my cousins married a Afrikaner a few years back. I believe more of her family are trying to emigrate (legally) over here, but haven’t really kept in touch. I wonder how far down the road to Zimababwe status they are now?

Its a tough subject to discuss honestly in a global age of misinformation assisting confused thinking.
If a country such as Israel is seriously threatened existentially, and the menace and malice suddenly increase from all directions, it must do what it takes to survive and win against all odds.
A serious student of history will see the collaboration between both Israel and old south Africa, anchored in two very hostile, for what it was. south africa prudently dismantled its nukes before stepping out and giving power to the ANC, which has taken it to banana republic territory.

So, I discuss buying a car with my local Toyota/Ford dealer but change my mind and go down to the government motor’s dealer and buy a Chevy a few days; someone is going to accuse me of collusion against government motors for talking to a Toyota dealer. As Sgt. Friday said; “Just the facts mam.” and the fact is they didn’t do anything but talk, good information for an writer to fill in a story but not of any real historical value. That requires real events like South Africa building and dismantling their weapons on their own. Something the Iranians have been trying to do for years and still haven’t got the hang of; but can talk the subject to death.

I have always supported Israel, even though occaisionaly shaking my head at some of their antics. (They act like Americans sometimes.) I always supported the old South
Africa because I realized the hopeless battle they were waging and their bleak future as the barbarians ,with American and Brit help, stormed the gates and turned a viable, modern 20th century country into a misbegotten hell hole. I guess I must be a real radical.
