Excellent post. It is amazing how many customers on the PSE Facebook page wanted to thank PSE for its benevolence for providing Western Washington Power. (I just wonder what the reaction would have been if a state or public agency had performed so poorly.)

For my part, I posted links to the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission so that people could formally complain about the situation with the customer service from corporate PSE, their lack of planning, and the absolute mess the repair effort was. I also tried to point out that there is no accountability for PSE here in Washington, really. PSE answers to its investors in New York, who answers to their parent company in Sydney. Of course, no one wanted to hear it, they just wanted to say, well you should of had your emergency gear ready… Well, I did, and PSE’s preparation and response still was horrendous.

I have now subscribed to your blog. I am glad that I found it.

Having gone through the same thing on the East Coast this past October, we learned the hard way.

We just finished installing a back-up generator that’s wired into our main box.

You just don’t realize how dependent we are on electricity until you’re without it for a week.
