People associate beliefs with themselves, and it’s more or less possible to rationalize almost anything away.

The problem, maybe, with the Left – either socialist anarchists, socialists, or democratic socialists, is that they seem to suffer from a histrionic personality type. Everything is a mountain, everyone is oppressed.

I’m not exactly sure what produces the socialist democrat mindset, but it is largely impossible to reason with. Hysterics are not capable of reasonable thought.

I would like to offer something deeper, intellectually, but now that this semester is over – and my political science class passed – I have had some realizations that the pox that is leftism is almost like a disease of the mind.

It’s difficult to argue with people who don’t have a sense of reason. I think that this is the cause of the failure of classical liberalism and Austrian economics.

I thought that giving up Gaza was “a bad idea whose time had come” – but Israel learned nothing from it – not even the savage destruction of the greenhouses within minutes of handing them over…. and now wants to hand over Jerusalem alias Al Quds! Neither Israel nor the US nor Europe defends any ideas anymore. We counterfeit phony money, trash our constitutions, pollute our schools with infantile dogmas, harass our citizens while neglecting our borders, and compromise for the sake of compromise. The real threat comes not from a 5th column of outsiders but from our own moral rot – for as Warren G. Harding so eloquently put it: “I can take care of my enemies in a fight. But my friends, my goddamned friends, they’re the ones who keep me walking the floor at nights!”
