For the most part, I find your blog invaluable. I would have preferred, however, to spend the rest of my life blissfully unaware of Robert Redford's pronouncements on the Gulf oil spill. Megyn Kelly is hot, though. "Law and Order" will rot your brain. I attempted to watch it once; the PC sanctimoniousness made me gag. "CSI" seems far-fetched; it's difficult to imagine any big city police force putting that much effort into any one murder. To my knowledge, the Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" is the only worthwhile TV series extant. "Movies with a message" (except for Idiocracy, of course) aren't particularly entertaining, so I've ignored most of the films released since 1990 or thereabouts. No one's made a decent Western since the Duke died. Neo-noir, some comedies, and zombie flicks seem to be the only current Hollywood products untainted by leftist propaganda.

I too am an old fogey who only enjoys good movies. We all knew hollywood and it’s denizens were a bunch of social freaks but at least they had the good judgement to keep most of it out of the movies. Now that the the viewing audiences are a mind-numbed bunch of dolts, the dolts who make the movies don’t try to hide their “doltishness”. What is interesting is they think they are mainstream and the rest of us boobs are out of step. I miss Roy Rogers.

I have a DVR so I can watch Law and Order reruns, some Highway to Heaven, Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch, and store some good old movies like Les Miserables, Tale of Two Cities, etc. – To depend on Live TV is an exercise in futility.

Good tidings: thanks to his divorce, Sean Penn now has more time to devote to activism. I was for 20 years in a relationship with Robin and 18 years with children. I didn’t have time to commit to anything—for real—in places like Iraq, except to denounce the war. But now I’m single. I can lend a hand.

But Have no Fear! Politically correct statements by “doofusses” such as Robert Redford are in abundance, so we all may be “entertained” for the near future!

These days I get all my entertainment from the web. At one stage I quite enjoyed Bollywood too. Just simply can’t stand Hollywood anymore.

Ilana, I recommend the films of Jason Reitman, a self-proclaimed libertarian. Juno is overrated, but “Thank You for Smoking” and “Up in the Air” are solid, touching films.

I don’t even have TV, there’s not enough there to “justify” the expense. It’s too painful watching dolts pretend they’re smart. Suspending reality becomes impossible. Certain actors like George Clooney will never get my money because not only do they specialize in preachy trash, they also do bad movies.

Love Justified so I’ll check out Flashpoint. Thanks for the heads up.

“Gunsmoke” and “Have Gun, Will Travel” still play on TV in re-runs. They exemplify and age and a genre where there was a story and a moral to it.
