The elites encourage – not tolerate but actively encourage – illegal immigration because it serves multiple purposes.

It provides cheap labor to big campaign donors.

It pushes us closer and closer to a hemispheric version of the EU. We would never vote to merge with Mexico. So, the elites have allowed Mexico to colonize us. Over 10% of Mexico’s population now lives north of the Rio Grande.

And it dispossesses the native born by diluting and destroying the value of their labor thus making them dependent on either handouts from Big Government or settling for sub-par wages from Big Business.

End result?

Serfdom.

I really dislike the idea that I should have to prove my identity with government ID in order to earn a living. It means I can't eat or have shelter without their permission. No, I don't like the country being overrun across an open border while we keep out productive people that do play by the rules. But typical of any tyranny, one is confronted with an array of untenable choices meant to make it easy to accept total government power. In this case, we can choose to lose the country to immigrants, or lose it to tyrants. Our own immigration 'service' is as corrupt as any third-world nation. No wonder people who have nothing to lose go around it. Some of them actually come here to find work. [Where are you living? We already have in place every check in the world conducted on us for work purposes. Exempt are illegal aliens.]

The five things I would recommend doing are:
(1) build a double-layered, monitored border wall
(2) end the welfare state , (3) end chain family immigration, (4) stop all benefits to tresspassers, and (5) end the war on drugs. All this will make us freer and the weflare/drug-war savings will pay for a good quality wall. What we will probably get is more neo-fascistic ID cards, internal monitoring of US citizens, and other nonsense that will NOT work.
(What I have to say about SSN’s is probably unprintable on a civilized blog)
