A “dreary slog” the critics dubbed it, and the (sparse) audiences aren’t impressed either.

When it comes to the aforementioned Thatcher biopic, Steve Sailer makes an interesting observation : “While a political nullity, The Iron Lady is a first-rate women’s picture, a poignant depiction of a happy marriage, a sad widowhood, and the frustrations of eldercare.”

Imagine if the screenplay actually dealt with affairs of the state. Streep wouldn’t have gone anywhere near it, I’d wager.

An overbearing nun [I thought she did quite well in this role], a rural housewife, a Type A fashionista, a sanctimonious journalist, a cruel bureaucrat and now Thatcher. What critics fawn over is the attempt to appear like something authentic.

I stopped going to movie theaters and renting movies 6-7 years ago. I also canceled HBO after the conclusion of The Wire.

But perhaps it’s better for leftists to out themselves. For celebrities to reveal how out of touch they are. How little they know.

Mrs. Mercer, you’ll just have to get your stories from books from now on.

Yet not all is lost especially if you don’t mind subtitles – recently saw these and all were a treat.

‘nough said!

My standard reply to any movie comment is- You do know that the movies never get it right, don’t you.” and that’s not a question. I don’t pay much attention to media for that reason. Actors get paid to read lines written by other people, why should one of their public announcements be any different? They’ve already proven they don’t have the capability of original thought by their ability to mimic. I read the comments sections of so called news articles and I find the audience no wiser than the writer or spokesperson so it’s a good match; unfortunately.

Well said. I am pro Brit as far as their fascinating history is concerned but their arrogance and politics leave much to be desired. Ms Thatcher was a notable exception. I always admired her and considered her a great friend to the US.

Stop paying to see them, make use of internet piracy and file sharing, it becomes far more bearable when the joke is on them.

Maggie – the only Prime Minister since Churchill with any ba**s! Still, like Reagan, she negotiated (often tough) with enemies and didn’t go completely reckless like Dubya and Obama have on foreign policy.

By the way, until I mercifully fell asleep, I had to listen to the non-Paul “machomen” endorse the President taking out anyone he wishes in any foreign country without due process. By that standard, King Abdullah could send a drone to wipe out any critic of Islam in America or Jacob Zuma could send a drone to wipe out anyone found with a copy of “Into the Cannubal’s Pot”

On another front, it looks like SIPA/SOPA, Hollywood stooge politicians’ effort to censor the net on behalf of their owners, has hit the wall for the time being. Minor victory for the forces of Freedom. Ilana et al.
