Of course, very little gets into the mainstream media. Keep in mind that one of the greatest strengths that the terrorists have is patience and discipline. Somehow, the West thinks that some hasty disorganized attacks or a “liberation of Iraq” constitutes an effective response. {or remember Clinton’s response to the Kenya/Tanzania attack during Lewinsky week! } Penetration of these cells in Britain and elsewhere is difficult and time consuming but necessary. I am not as certain of the wisdom of dropping 500 lb. “smart” bombs on wedding parties – especially if the “intelligence” behind it is completely dubious. When the West uses Islamic “informants” for intelligence, it should realize that many either lie, delude themselves, or have revenge agendas on other Moslems and hence their “intel” product should be treated with skepticism.

Hanif’s detonated only partly, killing three Israelis and himself, Sharif’s did not work at all and he ran off.”

As always, God is sovereign. I wonder how well off those Pakistani Brits were?
Can Western secular materialism trump peoples spiritual needs? Can they be seduced into abandoning their religion for Western culture and money? It doesn’t seem that way to me.

Pakistan is not an easy situation, is it? I recall, shortly after 9/11, (the late) Benazir Bhutto appearing on CNN to tell us that most Pakistanis want democratic reforms. She neglected to note that many want the opposite.

I also appreciated your reference to the ancient Greek myth. How many know what “a choice between Scylla and Charybdis” means? I was fortunate to have studied Greek mythology in the 7th grade, but that was more than 30 years ago. I have no idea whether our students today are learning anything about the ancient (Western) world in school.

What is the rational for disarming citizens again?
