I ‘m certain that one of your “conservative” readers will write something personal about Hillary being bad or Obama being bad but IMPERIAL HUBRIS is near universal among Imperial America (as you state). Would “bomb bomb Iran” McCain be different? Cheney? Or Herman Cain who probably can’t locate half the nations on a map and who refuses to even discuss foreign policy? Silly Sarah who can “see Russia” from the Aleutians? Meglomaniac Santorum or the insipid Flip-Flopper Mitt?

Americans delude themselves that this Rome on the Potomac is still faithful to the revolutionary Founders and to the Declaration and Constitution when, in reality, we have created a floundering, corrupted, power-hungry Empire that evolved into the ugly beast we originally rebelled against.

Imagine, for a moment, a different Secretary of State like John Quincy Adams – who gave this speech on the 45th Independence Day:
