Does anyone else think Rubio’s “meteoric” rise within the GOP ranks is peculiar? Rubio and Rand Paul are both considered Tea Party new bloods, but Rubio is treated by all as a rock star, Cuban Obama, etc.

I never understood how Rubio became so beloved by the Tea Party types so quickly. Full disclosure: I voted for him in Florida (against Crist), but the way he impressed some reminded me of the glazed look of adulation people had for Obama. Rubio is loved by everyone it seems: Neocons, establishment, radio types, Tea Party, and conservatives. And they’re so quick to tack him on to every permutation of the 2012 GOP ticket.

The power of a great personal story and the sway of an emerging minority group, hmm?

We were warned not to drink the Herman Cain koolaid just to show the world that the Conservatives could nominate someone as unqualified as Barry Soetoro based on color of skin. Now comes Rubio who is the Hispanic version of the same song. If Barry was/is not constitutionally eligible to be POTUS, then neither is smooth-talking Rubio. Once you get into politics, they’re all the same coin.

A few years ago, I investigated (Internet wise) the country of Georgia as a possible retirement home. From what I can tell, it would make a great place to live out your life, other than the poor politics and the Muslims nearby. But the politics seemed to be improving; then the new regime came in or showed its face and I had to cross it off my list. Now NATO? An evil bastard of an organization that never was needed and should disappear and new congressmen are embracing it; disgusting. Thank you Rand Paul.

This Ron Paul vs. the Establishment 2012 fight shows why the entire Warfare State issue is one that cannot be neglected or pushed under the rug. It is quite fundamental to the whole definition of the federal government. Making alliances with Bananastan, Latrinia, Ureaky, and SwampDreck to contain the evil [fill in the “Hitler of the Month”], keeping bases in Dungistan and Vomitia, and sending foreign aid and “advisors” to fight Neanderthal insurgents and teen age rapists on Schmuckania – this has resulted in a bloated Federal Government that endangers both our economy and our liberty.

While I have some disagreements with Pat B – this is a good column. It is also why the neocons state that they would back Obama over the “unacceptable” Paul. Rand is just a little more subdued than his dad but his instincts are solid.

Mr. Buchanan is spot-on again. When will this evil, putrid paradigm of international meddling cease? How did a nation that began by shunning “entangling alliances” come to this, the ceaseless draining of blood and treasure at the behest of chickenhawks? Doubtless, the author, like Dr. Paul, will continue to be derided, and – painful irony to relate – by many of the empire’s victims, including those of us in fly-over country who think we’re being patriotic by continuing to send our sons (and daughters – AAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!) off to bleed, occupy, etc.
