As a typical communist country with a typical communist economy, America will no longer attract immigrants of any kind from anywhere. We can expect most immigrants, legal and illegal, skilled and unskilled, to repatriate. Of course, none of this will be pleasant for those of us who remain.

Just about every wage earner pays SS and Medicare taxes, and nearly everyone pays sales taxes, excise taxes, utility taxes, and state income taxes (lower deduction thresholds). Indirectly, we pay property taxes and business taxes as well. Statist governments have done their best to CONCEAL taxation from the booboisie so that the masses think they are coming out ahead when, sadly, we are a nation of lemmings pulling each other downward.

“College education for EVERYONE” is a concept that goes beyond idiocy. Ironically, I once saw a exam that one had to take in 1926 to ENTER secondary (high) school which included questions such as: what was the last state to ratify the Articles of Confederation and why? I would stack up the average high school graduate of 1939 against the bottom 25% of college graduates circa 2009 in classical knowledge and put my money on the former. Of course, it is a good make-work program for 3rd rate teachers of 4th grade mentalities – probably in such relevant subjects as History of Hip-Hop and Transgendered Hispanics in Movies.

I agree that the jig is up, in terms of “restoring” our Constitution, but I think that Christian statism has had a negative effect, as well. Pastor Chuck Baldwin recently addressed the sad results of America’s pastors encouraging their flocks to blindly obey those in authority, http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin521.htm, while Pastor Greg Laurie recently averred that “…the military and the police are in place to keep order,” and that “…the Bible is saying that the one who enforces the law has been placed there by God.” http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=104288.

The latter comments are unhelpful in restoring any semblance of what the Founding Fathers bequeathed, and would be simply ridiculous if not for the statist mentality to which many American Christians succumb.

What a breath of fresh air. I hope more people began to search out the distinction between paleo/libertarian conservatism and neo-conservativism. Buchanan quoted Garrett while Hunter mentioned Kirk. I talk with many of my conservative friends and about the only person they may have heard of or read in F. A. Hayek. Most of them not only have never heard of Garrett and Kirk, but they have never heard of or read von Mises, Rothbard, or Hazlitt. One friend of mine, a conservative economics major from a large university in Texas, although knowing of Milton Friedman, has never read The Road to Serfdom.

Surely, though, parts of it may save themselves in due course?

[If acts of economic and legal secession are not squashed, sure.]

When we get a majority of Americans to think and act along these lines we have a great chance to turn this country around from the socialist cesspool it is becoming, and back to a liberty loving , empowering each individual to succeed our fail based on there own talents and abilities country it used to be.
