Any open-minded voter could have figured out his platform from the various debates, not to mention studying his web site and voting record. The information was there for anyone willing to discover it.

In other words, we could have had him as our President, but he never managed more than 4-5 percent in the primaries. The sad fact is that the vast majority of Americans don’t agree with his ideology. By and large, they are ill-educated, poorly informed, and easily swayed by fear-mongering.

It’s also sad to admit that there are far too many people in this country that like war (as long as they themselves aren’t dodging bullets). There’s this silly notion in the minds of many that there is no problem that can’t be solved by the US Marines. Shock and Awe can be so entertaining too! It’s little wonder that a peace candidate like Ron Paul would lose to political hacks like McCain. A sad commentary indeed.

That was a forgone conclusion.
The real tragedy was that his message was never heard.

No true values, in it for the prestige and probably to line his friend’s pockets. Ron Paul was perhaps the only one in the Republican presidential race who had any true convictions. That’s probably why Republicans refused to nominate him to be their party’s standard bearer in 2008. The Republicans simply didn’t want to nominate a presidential candidate who couldn’t be bought.
