I don’t care for the reductionist biological explanations of why older, uglier men can attract young attractive ladies. I don't care for the reductionist biological explanation of anything. When you agree to marry someone, you swear an oath to them, to be kept unto death. When you commit adultery or initiate a divorce, you are an oath-breaker. In healthy Western societies, few things are reviled more than the oath-breaker, and that is as it should be. Rush has given to various charitable causes and in amounts vastly exceeding his critics. The whore who gives to charity is still a whore.

To N J Patriot: Well and darn well said. To Barbara Grant: I listen to Rush on a daily basis and he absolutely espouses conservative, small government principles over the Republican party. As a matter of fact he is usually critical of the Republicans for their lack of backbone in dealing with the country’s problems. Maybe he is a middle class country boy who just got money and is short on taste the way he flaunts it. So what? Why is it even important? Rush is like me. (Except on payday.” That’s why I like him.

What surprises me is not that “Maha Rushie” (his ridiculous nickname for himself) got married to a pretty blonde, but that he didn’t marry Ann Coulter! Those two are birds of a feather–establishment, Republican, and statist to the utmost, and unlikely to upset the applecart that’s produced a great harvest for both.

The unfortunate thing is that so many so-called conservatives look to “Maha-Rushie” as some kind of hero. Hmmm…is he going to bring us back to limited, constitutional, republican government…or is he just waiting to put the next crop of statist Republicans forward in the next election?

Well, if I were a young, attractive potential trophy-wife, seeing how casually older women are discarded by the well-off and powerful, I’d probably drive a hard bargain too.

I know we’re supposed to marry for love here in the West, but I also know for a fact that being a wife (and perhaps a mother too) is also a J-O-B.

And while there are no doubt some women who would do it for love and little money, this old saying is still true: “It’s just as easy to love a rich man as a poor one.”

Hey, would that guy love his trophy wife so much if she weren’t so pretty? You get what you pay for, even if the payment isn’t always denominated in money.

Sorry to be so cynical. When I was growing up, marriage didn’t seem like it was any bargain for a woman.

I’ve been in a long-term live-in relationship, and I’m happy with him, but I have to say I’m still somewhat cynical about marriage.

I will also say that even in past relationships where I paid more of the bills, the guy always expected me to act like a wife (cook and clean for him) and cater to him. *Sigh*

Why not just wish Rush and his new bride the same health and happiness that any of us would want for ourselves, our family members, or our friends?
What a petty bunch indeed.
Ostentation is no vice for a proud and successful private citizen on his wedding day or any other. Nor is it hypocrisy to point out the total vice of the ostentatious politician who flaunts his public theft in the faces of the public.

Well, my wife was pretty too so there is no accounting for taste!

Not only does financial benefits follow but also FAME. Even that modern day intellectual giant, Levi Johnston, has turned his “physique” and his 15 minutes of fame into a semi-permanent meal ticket.

Perhaps some ambitious stud will shack up with Sonia Sotomayor or Elana Kagan and get his 15 minutes as well. Can gay and lesbian “trophy marriages” be far behind, either?

What a joke. Limbaugh and Gingrich are clowns and phonies. I’ve never understood why a younger, attractive woman would want a much older man. I assume it is just money. I just laugh at these people. Rush thinks he will finally be happy with this one, but he will not be. How long until his next divorce?

I just can’t fault the blowhard for trying to find happiness with a trophy wife. I won’t rate his chances at being happy too highly, though (but there’s no way to say for sure). Generally, plastic boobs translates to a plastic person, vain and shallow.
