I have seen some good stuff come out of think tanks and other stuff that is highly superficial. And then, of course, there are all the neocons from AEI and some of the other places that provided intellectual cover for the “liberation” of Iraq. It would be more interesting to have an evalutation metric as to which think tank was correct (as measured 5 years later) in its forecasting, analysis, and judgment rather than which one was “influential”.
