None of them want anything good for our country. I realize that putting the welfare of the United States is passe in today’s social and political discourse but that’s the way I see it. Don’t believe them, they’re not to be trusted. If they follow the Koran they want to kill us and every other non-Muslim in the world.

I do agree with the comparison between Shinto and Islam. While the Japanese have concentrated on economic conquest since WWII, that was not always the case. Shinto was the state religion beginning in the late 1800’s, and became one of the main forces driving Japan’s militarism. Just as Islam is often used as a justification for conquest, so Shinto was used to justify the conquest of China.

Many were about religious freedoms and I always replied that if the religion espouses violence towards others not of the religion, violence towards those who leave the religion, marry outside the religion, etc., then I am not in favor of that religion and its adherents since they would be violating the unalienable rights of each individual and violating the lawful laws of this country. Additionally, I am unfamiliar with theo-political religions that control countries to the extent the Islamic religion does. So, for those who are reading this comment, I do not care what religion you practice or your absence of religious practice, just as long as you do not think you have the power to force it upon me. If you initiate violence because of cartoons, silly comments, jokes – bad taste or not, or “blasphemies”, you will reap the whirlwind and become a minor footnote in history.

To argue “especially not here” is to acquiesce implicitly to “anywhere else”. Engagements of this sort will have us winning the battle of ‘ground zero’ while simultaneously losing the war.

The fable of ‘The Camel’s Nose’ is no longer an Arab cautionary tale – it’s an Arab stratagem.
