Rick Santorum – let us take the money of taxpayers at gunpoint to fund “democracy” around the world! I guess like the Shariah Law that is rising up with the Arab Spring that we are applauding. Since when is democracy more important than individual liberty?

I notice you didn’t mention Cain? Did he propose imposing “9/9/9” on Somalia? Can he tell between Somalia and a Salami Pizza?

Subtle sabotage of Iran – possibly selective embargoing of military stuff (not milk powder or vitamins!) – cyber-war …. – certainly can make sense.

Dropping bombs hither and yither, starving/depriving civilians, or corrupting dissidents with money (see Chalabi / Karzai etc….) – are stupid
policies, “Professor” Gingrich – even if some Israelis want us to do it!

My expectation is that Obama and War Party #2 will do everything they can to take the “soft on Iran” issue away from War Party #1 before the election. Already Obama is talking tough and saying “All options are on the table” according to Foxnews. And War Party #1 will praise the action but say it should have been done sooner, all according to the script.

I have understood that the three most important functions of government were: 1. A Military to protect the nation’s citizens from an external attack 2. A Police Force to protect the nation’s citizens from internal criminal activities 3. A System of Courts to resolve disputes among citizens and other entities.

Nowhere in my CATO pocket Constitution do I find an Article or an Amendment authoring the U.S. Military to willy-nilly conduct war.

Perhaps historical answers to today’s political positioning may be found in Edward Gibbon’s “THE DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE”.
