Grunts: Gladiators in the Emperor’s Colosseum

America’s military men are losing their minds, penned as they are like gladiators, condemned criminals, slaves and wild animals, in the Colosseum, destined to murder or die for the benefit of the craven Emperor and his comitatus.

Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, the accused in the massacre of 16 civilians in the Panjwai district of Kandahar Province, is from Washington state, my state. According to a KiroTV.com, he is 38-years-old and has spent 11 years in the Army. FoxNews provides a better report, telling of a “very mild-mannered” father to children aged 3 and 4.

Bales had been on three tours of duty to Iraq since 2003, military officials say, before being dispatched to Afghanistan, and had lost part of one foot in a “battle-related injury.”

“He wasn’t thrilled about going on another deployment,” said John Henry Browne, a defense attorney from Seattle. “He was told he wasn’t going back, and then he was told he was going.”

The bigger brain injury is those who keep plugging away at the stupid war thinking that the US can turn Afghanistan into Switzerland. I was at a conference watching a lot of high tech, overpriced stupidity being touted as helping out the war – American High Tech Stupidity vs. Taliban Low Tech Smart….

To the Pushtuns whose sons, fathers, daughters, wives etc. have been killed or wounded, is there any real difference between a brain-injured free lance killer and a planned following-orders American killing? If so, please explain????

Oh yes, that’s right Joe Lieberman (expert on Moslem thinking), 99.99% of Moslems like us!!!! (Amazing how we can’t kill the right 0.01% after 10 years!!).

Rich man’s war , poor man’s fight. Nothing changes human nature. You go to war to win or get the hell out. God bless Robert.

We’ve touched on this subject just recently but it bears repeating. Basically the troops are and have been getting the shaft from a government and a society who either don’t know what Americanism really is or are absolutely anti-American. Therefore they have no idea what the military is for nor do they pretend to support the troops. The troops are jerked around the world on missions with no clear directive to win, forced to risk life and limb while observing impossible rules of engagement and also forced to kowtow to the enemy as the government and society fawn over the same enemy. Some America hating, Jew hating, Christian hating loudmouth with a turban will get more support from our media and government than any spokesperson for the troops. Just ask Allen West. We may need those troops in the not too distant future and they may not be there.

As a dove and as a member of a group that preforms ‘respect ceremonies’ for veterans, this incident is only one, the worst, but part of the pattern. Last week, I attended a funeral of a ex-soldier who committed suicide because he could never readjust after numerous rotations. Today, we had a welcome home parade for a wounded soldier who lost her leg in Afghanistan (extent unknown) Halfway through the parade, she asked the driver to stop, got out and walked the rest of the route with two other female soldiers. Then to another ceremony, VFW to place a plaque on his hometown’s wall; but, I had been part of his funeral months ago. I remember watching the flag draped coffin go past, thinking, ‘this man will never have a wife, watch his children grow up, accomplish whatever amount of success possible an retire to the satisfaction of a well spent life.’

[Thanks for your good works …]

Bales also apparently brain-damaged some time ago in a non-combat vehicle accident. He then spent time at a military hospital notorious for shoving traumatized men back into combat. And what combat…when people dressed like civilians shoot at you and kill your friends, the eventual tendency is to go to the nearest village and kill civilians. Oradour-Sur-Glane, My Lai, again and again, every army in every war. This particular war should have been terminated long ago, but it looks to be dragging on and on until the Empire collapses somewhere else. May it happen soon.
