Fun in Kazakhstan

Sasha Baron Cohen, alias Ali G, is a British comedian and the creator of Borat, “a bumbling Kazakh TV presenter.” Borat’s exploits in the US are something to behold. Simply brilliant comedy, as in the time he asked a dating agency for a woman with plowing experience. Or when he sang his country’s anthem at an American sports match. The mournful wail went on for at least 20 minutes. His American spectators, bless them, were very patient. And what about “throw the Jew down the well“? That’s the infectious sing-along Borat began in a Texas bar. A classic.

By having fun at Kazakhstan’ expense, Borat (who has quite the bottom, if I say so myself) has created an international incident. Read how George Bush might get involved.

The guy almost qualifies for “living rug” status. đŸ˜‰

Sounds like the Brits have resurrected old jokes from the Beverly Hillbilleys and just changed the accent.

Who cares if the Kazakhs are mad? I doubt if they would worry about our feelings under similar circumstances.

[Lighten up! Why lapse into O’Reilly mode?! This isn’t politics; it’s humor. Ali/Sasha/Borat–all are brilliant and original.]

Funny thing, a few weeks ago I was invited to the rifle range by a friend and his friend from Kazakhstan. I told him I’d wanted to visit Kazakhstan for a while now. He replied, “For God’s sake why?”

BTW what Ali calls the title of the song is “Nie moge zrobic domofon.” Which as far as I can tell means, “I can’t work the intercom.”

I had never heard about Sasha Cohen until I saw “Talledega Nights”, where he played the french Formula 1 driver. They had a trailer of “Borat” and I couldn’t believe what I saw. That movie looks so twisted that the DVD may find its way into my collection!

Usually when I contribute to your site I’m mad about something and ready to charge hell with a water pistol. [For which we apprecaite you, Huggs.]

Thanks for telling me when it’s OK to laugh.

At the very least, he’s given them their country’s motto: “Home for the Perpetually Cranky.”
And good call, IM, on anatomy. Makes me appreciate my gifted husband. Must start watching him walk away more often.

Ohhh my goodness, that is funny stuff. I just visited the ‘Official Borat Website’ and laughed a good one. Especially humorous is his response to the Kazakhstan government’s criticism of his movie. “In response to Mr. Ashykbayev’s comments, I’d like to state I have no connection with Mr. Cohen and fully support my Government’s decision to sue this Jew.”

    Hilarious.
