As is to be expected with so private and guarded a person, the curtain on Steve Jobs’ inner life is being pulled back slowly, but surely. In the process, Jobs’ natural affinity for freedom is being revealed. The man who gave us Apple Inc. was obviously too smart to misunderstand the essence of liberty and how at odds BHO is with it. Jobs was on to the idiot Obama (and to racist and statist Bill Gates). Reports the HuffPo:
“Jobs, who was known for his prickly, stubborn personality, almost missed meeting President Obama in the fall of 2010 because he insisted that the president personally ask him for a meeting. Though his wife told him that Obama ‘was really psyched to meet with you,’ Jobs insisted on the personal invitation, and the standoff lasted for five days. When he finally relented and they met at the Westin San Francisco Airport, Jobs was characteristically blunt. He seemed to have transformed from a liberal into a conservative.
‘You’re headed for a one-term presidency,’ he told Obama at the start of their meeting, insisting that the administration needed to be more business-friendly. As an example, Jobs described the ease with which companies can build factories in China compared to the United States, where ‘regulations and unnecessary costs’ make it difficult for them.
Jobs also criticized America’s education system, saying it was ‘crippled by union work rules,’ noted Isaacson. ‘Until the teachers’ unions were broken, there was almost no hope for education reform.’ Jobs proposed allowing principals to hire and fire teachers based on merit, that schools stay open until 6 p.m. and that they be open 11 months a year.”
Jobs’ spot-on assessment of Bill Gates has to be my favorite revelation:
“Bill is basically unimaginative and has never invented anything, which is why I think he’s more comfortable now in philanthropy than technology. He just shamelessly ripped off other people’s ideas.”
UPDATE (1/3/2016): Alex Gibney, at CNN, trashes Steve Jobs, posthumously, in a one-sided, banal, “Why Can’t He Be More Like Bill Gates” bit of yellow journalism.
Worse yet is the Gates Foundation squandering millions trying to “prevent” malaria. http://www.gatesfoundation.org/infographics/Pages/end-malaria-info.aspx
DDT prevents malaria, always and everywhere. http://www.aaenvironment.com/DDT.htm
How many have had to die while the elites try to find a means of “preventing” malaria?
“[Jobs] was obviously too smart to misunderstand the essence of liberty and how at odds BHO is with it.”
-I’d tread carefully with that assessment. (from Zsa Zsa’s gossip site: “Walter Isaacson reveals that the Apple CEO offered to design political ads for President Obama’s 2012 campaign despite being highly critical of the administration’s policies”)
Obama 2012: iDiot.
Also, Zsa Zsa: “Jobs later told the author that he wanted to do for Obama what the legendary “morning in America” ads did for Ronald Reagan.”
And with regards to the education system being bogged down by unions, Jobs might have just watched “Waiting for Superman”, which would be a trendy, Southern Californian liberal thing to do (and could it be that that region’s New Age mentality is what kept Jobs from getting a necessary surgery to save his life?)
I tend to loathe Bill Gates. I’ve always regarded him as a nerdy thief who got lucky. But Gates’ deficits weren’t related to his avoidance of drugs or ashrams. It should be pointed out that Mark Zuckerberg is no different from Gates; he didn’t invent online social networking but he improved it in a way that friendster and myspace did not.
Roger: It isn’t about preventing, curing, or even helping. DDT is safe and works, that’s why it had to go. No one helped Salk create the polio vaccine. Steve Jobs had to be the bad guy of the computer field to bring innovation to the field. With a few except for a few exceptions, most non-profits work to build mailing lists, lobby groups or whatever; but, with the millions (Billions?) in non-profits out there, is the world better or have they created anything new in the last fifty years. Zip, nada, not a thing. 8 million lives a year saved in Africa with DDT, verses 172 with bed nets. The hemlock society probably raises a glass to the Gates Foundation every week.
So, ethnic cleansing of those in sub-Saharan is a good thing according to the elites, as long as it is done in a “green” fashion.
I should have known better.
Bill Gates is not the only one in his family who is racist.
La Raza means “The Race.”
Check out the video of Melinda French, Bill’s wife, addressing La Raza. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qBzBdco61k
Kinda ironic as she grew up in a lily white, upper middle class neighborhood in North Dallas.
I know this as I used to socialize with some of her high school classmates. One of them grew up a few blocks from Melinda.
She’s a dolt to think that the schools in this country can be “fixed.”
