To go by the dictionary, and “within the context of political science, big man, big man syndrome, or bigmanism refers to corrupt and autocratic rule of countries by a single person.”

Back in February, Democratic Senator Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.), “a stern constitutional scholar who has always stood up for the legislative branch in its role in checking the power of the White House,” warned about Obama’s executive-branch power grab.

According to Politico, “Byrd complained about Obama’s decision to create White House offices on health reform, urban affairs policy, and energy and climate change. Byrd said such positions ‘can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances. At the worst, White House staff have taken direction and control of programmatic areas that are the statutory responsibility of Senate-confirmed officials.'”

Byrd is an old Southern gentleman after whom Republicans are always chasing for his past indiscretions. George Will follows in Byrd’s footsteps in making a similar point, only later in the game, and leveled at a president he did not support.

“The Obama administration is … careless regarding constitutional values and is acquiring a tincture of lawlessness,” writes Will. After detailing the flouting of contracts, the use of TARP as a slush fund, and the bullying of business, Will concludes:

“The Obama administration’s agenda of maximizing dependency involves political favoritism cloaked in the raiment of ‘economic planning’ and ‘social justice’ that somehow produce results superior to what markets produce when freedom allows merit to manifest itself, and incompetence to fail. The administration’s central activity — the political allocation of wealth and opportunity — is not merely susceptible to corruption, it is corruption.”

Our political system resembles Africa more than Enlightenment America – Big Man Obama from the Democratic Tribe has replaced the big Bushman from the Republican Tribe – you have it correct right down to the eventual hyperinflation. And the sad part – 60% like the Big Man, 30% are obsessed with side shows like Gay Marriage, and maybe 10% actually believe in antiquated ideas like “limited government” or the gold standard ….

The illegitimate and treasonous Obama administration is not tinctured with lawlessness, as the too polite establishment writer George Will says; it is neck deep in a swamp of lawlessness.

What about the corruption of the Republican politicians? Didn’t our past “republican” President do exactly the same things; perhaps only on a slightly less “grand” scale?

The constitution is ignored. The people of the U.S. are completely ignorant of its precepts. Comments such as “it’s just an old piece of paper” and “it doesn’t mean anything to me” are quite common. It is no wonder that we have corrupt politicians.

Steve – the perfect example was when Congress REFUSED to allocate funds for GM & Chrysler (not that it is constitutional but at least one could say that the legislature “appropriated money”) – that Bushman did it anyway! How a President can just appropriate money independent of Congress is the ultimate in Bigman politics – that was even worse (constitutionally) than Clinton bombing the pharamceutical plant in Khartoum when the Starr report came out about Clinton and Lewinsky. Big Man Barack just builds upon previous precedents and Presidents.
