It is also true that Republicans pushing the Birther conspiracy are, to put is kindly, no match for this very mediocre man.
The bellicose and bombastic Donald Trump was dealt a well-deserved blow, when, to amplified attention (due to Trump publicity), Obama released a “Certificate of Live Birth.”
The president, who discussed the release at the White House without taking questions, said he had been “puzzled” by the enduring shelf life of the issue and acknowledged the announcement may not put the so-called birther controversy to rest. But he told the public and the media that it’s time to “get serious.”
As was mentioned in “Alien In More Than One Way,” I never understood the fetish with Obama’s alleged elusive birth certificate. “The President is an alien on so many levels, I fail to see why the formality of his birth is more central than the insanity and un-American nature of his thinking (which can be said of many other of his fellow pols, although BO is, admittedly, an extreme case).”
“Besides, isn’t BO American by virtue of his mother being an American? Mother Obama was a natural-born American, so baby BO is as well. The whole thing is a little loopy.”
This side show has sundered a chance to expose the lack of curiosity among Obama’s media acolytes about the president’s heavily guarded school and scholarly records. Obama’s Columbia University records, his Columbia thesis, his Harvard Law School records, his Harvard Law Review articles, his scholarly articles from the University of Chicago: none has been released, and none of the media that matters have evinced the slightest curiosity about these papers.
Thanks to the Birthers, lost is the opportunity to expose affirmative action, as it ripples through American society, affecting everything from the housing foreclosure crisis—“The Minority Meltdown”—to the highest office in the land.
Sorry, but if he didn’t “understand” why it was a big deal… and indeed believes that it ISN’T… then WHY SPEND MILLIONS of $ to keep it a SECRET?

Of course you’re right on principle – and maybe on politics as well. But the whole point of the “natural born citizen” clause went to fundamental loyalties and priorities. It seems to me that whatever BHO’s technical birth status, forthrightly questioning his loyalties and priorities is more than a distraction, and I thank Trump, Farah and others for that. In the words of her majesty Hillary, Obama is loyal and dedicated to the people of these united states – “as far as I know”.
I was shocked to find out that Obama (or anyone else for that matter) was allowed to run and assume office without first proving his eligibility. Surely, if any one of us has to submit a pile of paperwork to the State just to prove our existence, why should we simply take someone’s word for it when it comes to qualifying for the highest office in the land? It’s not a matter of race or class, but rather of equality before the law.
As usual, Hillary is wrong. Obama (and Hillary) is loyal and dedicated to one thing: the pursuit and exercise of political power. Nothing else. If it means killing foreigners with drones, spying, torturing and indefinitely detaining Americans, and spending trillions we don’t have to pay off supporters, he’ll do so without a second thought. Where he was born and who his parents are kind of pales in comparison, don’t you think?
The 53% of the electorate that voted for Zero 1st time around will do so again, providing they are still getting their debt-financed govt jobs, pensions, contracts, checks, etc. Still, it’s probably indicative that the louse was born in Kenya, not here; his “certificate of live birth” is a palpable forgery.
Obama is a radical, anti American Marxist who is hell bent on running the United States into the well trodden ground of socialist mediocrity. And we all have our panties in a wad over his birth certificate.

However, with 2 weeks of nauseating media bluster teh Donald was able to accomplish what no one in the media had any interest in doing for the last three years (i.e. releasing a formal document in the interests of transparency). What else could teh Donald accomplish for the more prurient and paranoid, conspiratorial-minded among us? What’s in Area 51? Show us once and for all. Was there a shooter in the grassy knoll?
Do you really find someone clever who spends an inordinate amount in lawyer’s fees to prevent the release of a measly birth certificate? It fits in line with this current President’s approach to all matters fiscal (i.e. never let money NOT go to waste).
As to why people are interested? Well, isn’t it easier than having to open up an Econ book to understand Paul Ryan’s graphs and math.
I don’t think anyone is more disappointed in Obama’s action yesterday than the news storytellers at MSNBC, CNN, ABC, and NBC. So much so, that a day later the issue has passed, but they’re still obsessing over it. No worries in 48 hours the news will have a new story that no in America actually cares about. A couple of inbreeds in the United Kingdom will be getting married while America sleeps.
Very strange Ilana, that you seem to be unaware of all the evidence against Obama’s eligibility. My own opinion is that the recently produced COPY of the certificate of live birth is a FORGERY. We still have not seen photographs of the ORIGINAL from 1961. Of course the lying and treasonous liberal establishment news media would not recognize a forgery if they saw it, just like its blind stupidity regarding Dan Rather and CBS ignorance of forgeries about President Bush, which forgeries eventually cost Dan Rather his news anchor job.

I don’t understand why you say Trump was dealt a blow. To me it appears Trump accomplished something half the country could not do for over three years, get Mr. Obama to release his long form. Not everyone who was calling for this release claimed Mr. Obama was foreign born. They just said he should have released the proper form, and he finally did.
I see this as a victory for Trump. He is a businessman used to negotiating deals. He just made Obama blink for nothing in return. So obviously his attacks on Obama are causing concern. That is more than can be said for McCain and other republicans who have so far laid down without a fight.
If Trump can make Obama fold on this, maybe republicans will take note of his unbending tactics and do the same in legislative areas. Maybe they might even get around to voting on Obama’s Libyan War!
I have mixed feelings concerning the birther issue. The constitution is silent on how to enforce the “natural born” clause. That being said, every attorney I’ve ever interviewed tells me when your documentation supports your case, release it. The president fought tooth and nail to prevent this.
A reasonable media would’ve asked why. Was Hillary Clinton “un-serious” to have her campaign first raise the issue? What about the questions concerning John McCain’s canal zone birth?
The main reason I thought the birther issue worthy of further consideration at this point is were Zero proven ineligible, a whole bunch of odious legislation he’s signed is null and void. Yes, this brings on a constitutional crisis, but the republic is so dead, and so lawlessly governed that I’m ready for a “bring it on” moment.

When the fact is accepted that the government is nothing more than an organized crime syndicate, what’s it matter whether their leader is “eligible” or not?
The obsession with Obama’s birth certificate and the elevation of a Talk Show Phony like Trump into a Republican “front runner” only indicates the sorry state of American politics which has less intelligence than my last fart. For what it’s worth (zero), has anyone seen George Washington’s original birth certificate?
The Obamas “attended” Ivy League schools which, a fortiori, makes them smarter than 99.9999% of all people who ever walked on earth. But then politics is about popularity, not brains. In any case, when the “opposition” consists of Socrates Sarah Palin, Yee Haw Huck, Donald “You’re Fired” Trump, and Crash Pilot McMussolini-Cain, Obama can look extremely sophisticated. Most of these egotistical clowns have professional speechwriters,” handlers”, and Spin Doctors elevating these latter day Warren Hardings into the Einstein League.
Having said that, I’d be curious to see what Obama really accomplished in his “academic career”.
