Be Afraid: The Proof is in the Putin

The following is an excerpt from “Be Afraid: The Proof is in the Putin,” my new, WND.COM column:

“Left and right, the cable commentariat is currently engaged in a cut-and-thrust over the use of strong words in politics. In particular, does ‘terrorism’ describe the initial reluctance of some tea partiers to support the US government’s set-in stone spending?

Lost in this silly squabble is the following: ‘the second coming of the Republican revolution,’ as Politico.com dubbed the tea party contingent on Capitol Hill, failed to defuse the threat of the debt. Only 28 tea-party freshmen voted against the ballyhooed “Budget Control Act Amendment.”

Listen to the words of one wily politician whose country’s central bank holds almost 40 percent of dollars as reserve currency. Vladimir Putin’s response to the debt compromise was pitch-perfect, given the stakes stateside and beyond. This via RT and Press TV, respectively:

‘The current deal struck by US lawmakers will not solve the underlying issues. This colossal debt, $14 trillion or more, means that the country has been living on credit, which is really bad for one of the world’s leading economies. They live beyond their means, and put a part of their burden on the entire world’s economy. … The country is … shifting the weight of responsibility on other countries and in a way acting as a parasite.’

Having impressed themselves no end, the lawmakers who came up with the “Budget Control Act Amendment” don’t impress Putin much.

So what was the deceptive deal that was endorsed by 59 of the already stale tea-party freshmen, and got enthusiastic whoops from many among mainstream media’s menagerie of morons? …”

“Putin is right.” ( I think I said the same thing a few days ago.) The Chicoms lecture us about our lack of fiscal judgement. The Russians do the same. Even those weenie socialist Europeans think we are going off the deep end. Are the main actors in Washington embarassed by these turns of events? It would seem not. Our leaders are hell-bent on keeping us going down the same road to oblivion. Either by design, such as the liberal, left Demopcrats or by stupidity and weakness, such as the Republicans. Where are the American voters? They are all hepped up about finally letting Perverts marry their same sex partners and making sure that Muslims are protected from bad words by evil Americans. The country has gone to hell in a handbasket. Where are the leaders? Where are the Americans? Where is anybody in a leadership position who will stand tall? Michele Bachmann looks like the best bet to me. Maybe I’ll just take over and make the changes needed. Don’t worry Ilana. There will be a prominent place for you.

“The proof is in the Putin.” Nice. I would vote for Putin over Obama. At least Putin sounds like he would support a balance budget amendment.

    (1) The “Tea Party” may have its heart in the right place but its head is up its ass! They lack both a coherent program and support of the majority of Americans and can just bloviate and whine at present.

    (2) As Putin says, America is a (bullying hegemonic) parasite living beyond its means. The budget deficit is about the same size as the GDP of the 1,200,000,000 people of India. And do not forget that the deficit does NOT count the future growing obligations of the Socialist Insecurity and other exponentially growing “obligations”

    (3) Congress HAS THE POWER TO BALANCE THE BUDGET. That idiotic Amendment will either cede it to the Supreme Court (the Sotomayor Sales Tax or the Alito troop withdrawal??) or will be another Kabuki farce where Congress exempts “emergency” or “off budget” spending.

    (4) NOTHING HAS BEEN CUT (in this “deal”) unless you would consider Jack the Ripper promising to “rape 5 less women in 2025” some sort of milestone. Has National Public Radio been cut? NEA? HUD? Agriculture? National Endowment for the Humanities? Amtrak? Afghanistan? Drug War? “Education”? Fannie? Freddie? Libya? F-35?

    (5) If Americans want higher spending, then they should pay higher taxes!!

James – EVERYONE is “fiscally sound”. Some juicy excerpts:

    MICHELLE BACHMANN 2012:

Then, as President, I will demand a return to our Founders’ vision of smaller, smarter government within the enumerated powers laid out in the Constitution. The resulting reforms will result in deep cuts in federal spending and ensure that we never face a debt crisis of this sort again.”

    DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM 2008 (OBAMA) :

“Democrats cut taxes for 95 percent of working families, provided help for small businesses and homeowners… Democrats reinstated fiscal responsibility in government spending and ensured that American taxpayers will never again be forced to bail out big banks… Democrats stand for the values of hard work and responsibility, and we know that as a country we are most successful when we invest in our people—middle-class families and small business owners—who can grow our economy from the bottom up. Together, we have begun to lay a new foundation for growth, building an economy that works for all Americans.”

    DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM 1932 (FDR):

“.. the Democratic Party declares its conviction that the chief causes of this condition were the disastrous policies pursued by our government… encouraging the indefensible expansion and contraction of credit for private profit at the expense of the public. … They have…destroyed the values of our commodities and products, crippled our banking system, robbed millions of our people of their life savings, and thrown millions more out of work, produced wide-spread poverty and brought the government to a state of financial distress unprecedented in time of peace. .. We advocate an IMMEDIATE AND DRASTIC REDUCTION OF GOVERNMENTAL EXPENDITURES by abolishing useless commissions and offices, consolidating departments and bureaus, and eliminating extravagance to accomplish a saving of not less than twenty-five per cent in the cost of the Federal Government. And we call upon the Democratic Party in the states to make a zealous effort to achieve a proportionate result. We favor maintenance of the national credit by a federal budget annually balanced on the basis of accurate executive estimates within revenues We advocate a sound currency to be preserved at all hazards and an international monetary conference called on the invitation of our government to consider the rehabilitation of silver and related questions. … The removal of government from all fields of private enterprise except where necessary to develop public works and natural resources in the common interest.”

This is not a new story wherein the non-Royals, non-Politicians, and non-Bureaucrats get the advance heads-up about the financial and economic down-turns.

As time passed, the Romans mixed more and more base metals with the silver of their coins. Other governments “clipped” the coinage received from the general population and then re-introduce the “lighter” coins, i.e. same value as full weight coins.

In the Fiat paper money world, well, just issue more paper and reduce each unit’s value via inflation. Read about John Law and the Bank of France…see video “THE ASCENT OF MONEY”.

I have considered metals, but will the government confiscate it from private storage, bank storage, and from your home? How does the average person not drown in this mess?

Myron, well researched comments. So, what’s the answer? We’ve got to wade through the lies and posturing to try to pick candidates who might make a difference. I’m not sure that the country isn’t so far gone that the Obamas and Schumers haven’t won and we can’t get them out. Maybe the Tea Partiers are just a bunch of Red State boobs but thay are all we’ve got so maybe we should try and help them win instead of sitting back and criticizing becuase their socks don’t match.
