‘India, Jihad’s Permanent Battleground’

Islam, Terrorism

The background to India’s woes is expertly narrated by Srdja Trifkovic of Chronicles Magazine. Hint: It all began with the invasion of Mo’s followers:

“Teams of heavily armed terrorists carried out seven coordinated attacks in India’s financial capital Mumbai (Bombay) on Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning. At least 78 people were reported killed and over 200 wounded, with the final toll likely to rise. Similar attacks by Islamic terrorists occur with depressing regularity in India (see Timetable at the end of this article). The disputed province of Kashmir notwithstanding, militant Islam sees the second most populous country in the world as “unfinished business”: having been ruled by Muslims once, it cannot legitimately revert to Dar al-Harb.

Prior to the Muslim invasions which started in the 8th century India was one of the world’s great civilizations. It matched its contemporaries in the realms of philosophy, mathematics, and natural science. It was a richly imaginative culture, one of the half-dozen most advanced civilizations of all time. Its sculptures were vigorous and sensual, its architecture ornate and spellbinding.

Muslim invaders began entering India in the early eighth century, on the orders of Hajjaj, the governor of Iraq. Starting in 712 the raiders, commanded by Muhammad Qasim, demolished temples, shattered sculptures, plundered palaces, killed vast numbers of men—it took them three days to slaughter the inhabitants of the port city of Debal—and carried off their women and children to slavery. After the initial wave of violence, however, Qasim tried to establish law and order in the newly conquered lands, and to that end he even allowed a degree of religious tolerance. Upon hearing of such practices, his superior, Hajjaj, wrote back:

You go on giving pardon to everybody, high or low, without any discretion between a friend and a foe. The great Allah says in the Kuran [47.4]: “O True believers, when you encounter the unbelievers, strike off their heads.” The above command is a great command and must be respected and followed. You should not be so fond of showing mercy, as to nullify the virtue of the act. Henceforth, grant pardon to no one of the enemy and spare none of them, or else all will consider you a weak-minded man.

In a subsequent communication, Hajjaj reiterated that all able-bodied men were to be killed, and that their underage sons and daughters were to be enslaved. Qasim obeyed, and, on his arrival at the town of Brahminabad, massacred thousands of men. …”

Updated: Poor Baby: CNN Bleats About the Bulldozer Terrorist

Israel, Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, Palestinian Authority, Psychology & Pop-Psychology, Terrorism

CNN’s Jack Cafferty was not happy with the label Israelis aptly applied to the man who barreled down a busy avenue in Jerusalem in a bulldozer, crushing and killing innocent bystanders: “Palestinian terrorist.” I guess that excessively demonizes this demon.

Cafferty, who features on Blitzer’s “Situation Room” with one of those Magic Daily Questions that must wow viewers, registered his displeasure. He wanted to hear more about what would possibly drive an otherwise good man to be so mean. Hey, ever hear of unadulterated evil? Cafferty then reached for that instant exculpatory construct: the so-called “mental disease.”

The of diseasing of behavior is now so thoroughly ingrained it has usurped right and wrong.

Accordingly, when people perpetrate evil, those who’ve habituated to these false categories toss free will to the wind. Since the Palestinian terrorist did a monstrous thing, liberals attribute his actions to causes. To perpetrate evil, one surely must be “mentally ill.” When a person does good things, those of this lax, irrational mindset attribute his actions to choice. They acknowledge free will and human agency if — and only if — adaptive actions are involved.

Read “Evil, Not Ill”.

Update: The contagion is spreading. MSNBC has placed the word “terrorist” in scare quotes, either “to distance the writer from the material being reported,” or “to indicate that it is someone else’s terminology.” Among MSM twits, “terrorist” is clearly a controversial term for a terrorist. It works for me.

Celebrity, Crime, Hollywood, South-Africa, Terrorism

“Moody models, desperate divas and priapic ex-Presidents rubbed shoulders with politicians and pop stars. … They came, ostensibly, to pay homage to Nelson Mandela. Instead, the luvvies (as usual) seemed more in love with themselves.”

The British press, in this case the Daily Mail, has, at least, both the inclination and the ability to mock this repulsive event into meaning: give it the context it deserves. Here in the US there’d be only adulation, sans the edge you get in this piece.

British writers still have bite.

Indeed, Nelson has reached a ripe old age, which is more than many of his “subjects” can hope for.

Here are the latest, likely finessed, murder statistics from the South African Police Service:

From 2006 to 2007, 19,202 South African lives were lost (population 43,786,115). By comparison, the United States had 16,574 murders (population 303,824,646).

Update: “Medal of Honor for a Terrorist.
