No Country For (Any) Men

Gender,Military,Political Correctness

Front and center in the reports about the Enterprise videos scandal have been statements about the slurs they contain against gays and lesbians. Capt. Owen Honors is to be relieved of his command of the USS Enterprise for producing and starring in crude video skits that were “shown over the ship’s internal broadcast system.” According to a CNN report, which twice mentions the anti-gay invective, the things were “produced four to five years go.” Why have they made headlines now? Perhaps the intention is to make an example of this Honors chap to coincide with the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell”?

The military was once a male society. For better or for worse, in such societies crassness equals esprit de corps. Now the same society is to be softened and refined so as to be friendly to females, gays and anyone in-between.

I admit to being easily embarrassed; however, I believe that earthiness is a male trait and one to be accepted in a mostly all male environment. Seeing what is now considered to be Politically Incorrect I doubt that what the videos contain would embarrass even me.

Sniveling from those on the Left is to be expected. It’s not a matter of political correctness, but instead another demand for approval.

However, those on the Right seem to suffer from an inability and/or an unwillingness to understand that the debauchery within the military is epic. That those banshees on the Right are not concerned with the day to day romps within garrison, but are somehow, supposedly, incensed by these three-year-old videos is shameful.

Alas, those on the Right will never abandon their romanticized image of the Department of Defense, which seems to resemble a cross between a fraternity house and the DMV more everyday.

This is only the beginning. As anyone who has ever had to sit through the military’s sensitivity training stand downs and been lectured by SNCO’s about crude humor and “equality” knows the allowance of open homosexuality is a whole new can of worms. The military has become a giant social experiment where the government has access to thousands of sworn in guinea pigs before they attempt to implement policies on the general populace.

If Capt. Honors has done anything wrong it was to “star” in those videos himself, thus making himself more “approachable” than a man in his position ought to. That said, kudos to a tough guy who has the self-confidence to look like a jackass in a bathing cap.

This is ridiculously overrated. As far as I know, they don’t make incompetents commanders of aircraft carriers. The US Navy must have an overabundance of resources if they are so readily dismissing a man with such qualifications.

But sarcasm apart, this information from 2006 says that, in America, a population-wide decline in men’s testosterone levels during the (then) last 20 years can be noted, a decline which is not related to normal ageing or to health or lifestyle factors known to influence testosterone levels. This decline is consistent with other long-term trends in male reproductive health, such as decreases in sperm quality, increases in testicular cancer or cryptorchidism.

One wonders whether the mental/political castration of men, which is going on for roughly four decades now, is answerable for that. If that is the case, the treatment Capt. Honors received will lower the statistical testosterone level of the American male population by another 5%.

It’s a good thing we have all of these “investigative reporters”. I have yet to hear just WHO released these tapes to the media. It seems rather obvious to me someone had a personal ax to grind with this Captain and this was their way of payback. We’re going to get to the point the only people left to fight the empire’s never ending wars will be thugs from the street, gays and women. Oh wait, we’re already there.

I’ll bet General Lee would have loved to have had Capt. Owen Honors Supervisors on Lincoln’s staff. Then he would not have been worried about General Hooker on his flank.
