Immigration Outsourced To Everyone But The People

America, Democracy, Europe, IMMIGRATION, Politics

“.. in a democracy, leaders who dismiss and denigrate widespread concerns soon find themselves ex-leaders. Everywhere in the Western world there is a fast-growing constituency for new kinds of immigration and refugee policies. If anything is shameful, it is the shabby, thoughtless, and arrogant elite consensus that has to date denied that constituency a responsible political leadership. But that too is changing, yielding to heavy evidence and hard experience.”—David Frum, “America’s Immigration Challenge” (Dec 11, 2015)

The only cliche in this article by fellow Canadian David Frum is “challenge” in the title. An excellent expose indeed.

Reactions To The Idea That Businessman Trump’s Trying To Cut Loss … Of Life

“Businessman Trump trying to cut loss … of life” is this week’s column.

VW, a WND reader (a lady), reacts via email:

Dear Ms. Mercer,

Absolutely brilliant take on the situation! Congrats on your spot-on insight …
God bless you and keep up the good work!

From workforlivn @ The Unz Review:

“Perfect prose Ilana. First lesson in a business: Watch the pennies and the dollars will care for themselves. The contrast to Washington is dropping million dollar JDAMs on 2 dollar tents.”

This from Craig Smith on Facebook:

A very valuable post. As much as I’ve been reading, I still haven’t come across anything quite as incisive as this. I’ve shared it, and added a long caption.

Read Craig’s “longer caption.”

My reply:

Thank you, Craig Smith. That you’ve said these kind words so often over the years doesn’t diminish their value. “No Wonder The Pols Think Businessman Trump’s Crazy; He Understands Scarcity” is the weekly column, no mere post. It appears on WND, of course — has done since 2001, on The Unz Review (America’s smartest webzine) since last year, on PRAAG – Die Pro-Afrikaanse Aksiegroep, belonging to Dan Roodt who fears no one; on the gifted Sean Gabb’s UK-based Libertarian Alliance and on Quarterly Review, a now small, still august, historic, British publication edited by Dr. Leslie Jones. Please support and popularize the handful of publications—only a handful—that carry and have carried the Return to Reason column since its inception. Yeah, the rest are a disgrace.

Our English readers are ever erudite.
Says John Warren, on 13 December, 2015 at 7:12 am:

Brilliant. I couldn’t agree more. In my ever so humble opinion, Ilana Mercer is spot on with all that she writes here.

A good, clear thinker who brilliantly sets out on paper that which she considers important enough to write about. Her paragraphs arrive randomly sprinkled with wit, wisdom and tragedy. She seldom repeats herself or attempts to impress the reader by churning out a shedload of boring facts – which we can all, in any event, find out for ourselves should we feel the need to.

Other people will not agree I know, but for me, I better enjoy reading articles when the writer tells me how they feel about issues and not how much they know about them. If they know everything about anything they shouldn’t need to talk about whatever to anyone.

Ilana not only owns the sort of retentive ability that bestows her with great confidence, she also demonstrates a fertile and often delightfully wicked imagination. I’ve found a diamond.

The Face Of Security And American Immigration

Homeland Security, IMMIGRATION, Islam, Jihad, Political Correctness, Terrorism

“Can the K-1 fiancé visa system be made more secure?” asks the Idiocracy entrusted with YOUR life.

And the answer is no—not given the existing norms held by the officials doing the screening. To wit, the agents and agencies performing- and dictating how screening is carried out do NOT consider it the least bit incompatible or problematic for a blushing bride to be clad in a tent and a nose bag, to practice a religion some of whose tenets are violent, supremacist and antagonistic to the country into to which she is migrating; to have customs and habits so foreign as to be frowned on in America.

I would not voluntarily seek out a dentist, doctor, manicurist or florist who dressed like Tashfeen Malik. Clearly the K-1 package floating around in nose bag and tent goes straight into a ghetto, never to emerge.

And no, it is impossible to make the visa system more secure when the screeners consider Jihad to be nothing more than a peaceful pillar of the Islamic faith. But more about the FBI’s PC manuals on Islam later.

CBS News:

She was granted a K-1 visa, even though the FBI now believes she was radicalized before she met Farook.

The State Department says Malik was thoroughly questioned during an interview at the U.S. embassy in Pakistan. She also filled out a questionnaire, where she was asked “Do you seek to engage in terrorist activity?” and “Are you a member of a terrorist organization?”

Five U.S. agencies also vetted her, checking her fingerprints against two databases. Neither her name nor image showed up on a U.S. terror watch list.

Malik did give an incomplete home address, which could have raised red flags, but it’s not clear if it was intentional. Now Congress is demanding to know what questions she was asked and to see her visa application.

“They say that the vetting process has got all these fail safes but apparently there aren’t enough fail safes, because she got through the system,” said House Republican Matt Salmon. “How many others have gotten through the system?”

Bibi Netanyahu’s Two-Faced, Brutish, Boorish Reaction To Trump

America, Homeland Security, IMMIGRATION, Israel, Judaism & Jews, Nationhood

Nationhood is for Jews, but not for gentiles. This is what disgusts about Israeli politicians, pundits and now Bibi Netanyahu, worshiped by neocons. The prime minister and his Knesset take as a given that Jews should be able to do what is necessary to protect themselves in their homeland. The protection of American lives in their homeland, on the other hand, is a far less urgent matter to these Israelis.

Netanyahu has openly declared that he wants to retain Israel’s national character. Well of course. And so he should.

He has rightly refused to absorb some of the region’s refugees, insisting that this would conflict with his obligation to his countrymen. Copy that, Mr prime minister. But when an American patriot so much as suggests stanching the flow of blood in the US, caused by this country’s laissez-faire immigration policies—Bibi and his pols protest boorishly.

CNN:

“Prime Minister Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump’s recent remarks about Muslims,” according to a statement issued by the prime minister’s office.

“The State of Israel respects all religions and strictly guarantees the rights of all its citizens. At the same time, Israel is fighting against militant Islam that targets Muslims, Christians and Jews alike and threatens the entire world,” the statement said.

Netanyahu came under fire from dozens of members of the Israeli parliament for planning to host the controversial GOP presidential front-runner. They called on the Prime Minister to cancel his meeting with the billionaire businessman.

As I wrote in “Cut The Cycle-Of-Violence Crap”:

Israelis seldom extend us the sympathy Americans so dearly deserve. The Muhammadan menace in the U.S. is, by default, downplayed when it’s portrayed by Israelis as part-and-parcel of the cross borne by a multicultural, multiethnic democracy: The U.S.

The largely homogeneous Jewish State is said to be entitled to live free of the Muhammadan menace. Not so our Anglo-American Christian civilization.

Let right-minded Americans remind their Israeli friends, however, that America was not multiethnic and multireligious by birth. Rather, the America we love and need every bit as Israelis love and need Israel has become a balkanized, multiethnic toilet by political design, by force.

This is no way to live. Not for Americans; not for Israelis.

Trump’s response was masterful:

He is reminding Israel that he’ll not forget this shameful episode if …
