The Logic of La-Raza Libertarians

“Utopian libertarians are especially fond of claiming the welfare state is the sole reason illegal immigrants cost much more ($26.3 billion) than they contribute ($16 billion). Were it not for its provisions, they say, these unskilled, uneducated, non-English speakers would become a boon—not a burden—to the communities they infiltrate. In its determinism, the thinking of the love-in-at-the-border libertarian is indistinguishable from that of the left-liberal. Both see the social environment as the single most important determinant of behavior.
However, what of this cohort’s cultivated militant distinctiveness? What about crime and disease? Will these dissipate with the unlikely dissolution of the welfare state? I suggest the hippies have confused the causal sequence. The point of departure is the quality of immigrants entering the U.S, post the 1965 Immigration Act. For the kind of immigrant given preference under current policy, welfare is more of a magnet. Also ignored by La-Raza libertarians is the evidence of the rapid acculturation among post-1965 immigrants to U.S. largess: the longer these immigrants reside in the country, the likelier they are to receive welfare…”

More non sequiturs from open-border fetishists in my new WND column, “The Logic of La-Raza Libertarians.”

How about the carnage these folks cause on our highways? I’ve read that many of them come here with little or no experience behind the wheel of an automobile.

A long-ago ex-boyfriend of mine just lost the second of his three children to a hit-and-run driver.

The first child was lost to a drunk-on-his-@$$ illegal Mexican who was NEVER EVEN ARRESTED AT ALL. The guy tried to lie his way out of it. He had been caught DUI more than once. By the time they figured out he was lying, his blood alcohol level had gone down. Although they should have arrested him for manslaughter if nothing else, they let him go… to kill someone else, I suppose!

These individuals come to our Country to create chaos, misery and mayhem just as they did in their respective hell-holes.
Few years back, working for the State Department, I had the opportunity to see first hand what they have “accomplished” in their homelands and it’s just pathetic. Keep in mind, some of those countries have been around for over 500 years and they have, successfully, created hell on earth. There is nothing that makes me believe they would do anything different in our once great country. They come for one reason and one reason only: a few dollars to send back to their families, period. There is no loyalty towards our Homeland, no desire to “assimilate”, learn our language and simply join the American Family. These groups like LA RAZA, are nothing but the modern version of the Black Panthers of the 60’s and 70’s.

What more is there to say on this subject? Powerful people want the illegals here or they wouldn’t be here. Whatever the reasons, financial, political or most likely both, they are strong enough for these “powers” to surrender the sovereignty of our country and the security of our borders. The burro has his nose well into the casa and will most likely not be dislodged.

Let me tell you, the old Mexican families, the “settlers,” are as horrified by the influx as you are, maybe more so. We are also victims of illegal drunkards, as Pam writes, and are often the victims of identity theft.
But Mr. Buchanan loses me, and other Hispanics, when he says we are Third World people. Why, Hispanics are the most “western” people I’ve ever known. Mr. Buchanan must be a yankee to make such a staement. So, I say we need a new voice in our defense of this country–Lou Dobbs does a fantastic job, as does Yeagley, and YOU, Ms. Mercer. Thanks for another great article.

There are really Libertarians arguing for illegal immigration in it’s present form or any other? I am a registered DC Libertarian (oxymoron?) and would think that as a Libertarian laws should support the protection of private capital and individual rights within the confines of some tennable state/legal system. Also unchecked illegal immigration will have a massive negative impact on all environmental resources. Where are the libs and saviours of baby seals on this one?

Don’t get me started on illegals and traffic accidents. The AZ cops don’t even bother asking them for ID and insurance anymore, should they smash into your vehicle. Try saying you don’t have a license or insurance to a cop during an accident.

One question rarely asked is why would someone immigrate – even into a libertarian country of whatever form. During the period under the Articles of Confederation, you could break contracts by walking across a jurisdictional boundary, and the constabulary and debts would stop at that border.

If Mexico is that horrible, they should rise up and overthrow the government. We’ve funded contras for lesser problems. But consider if Mexico becomes a model society, who would want to leave to come here?

Now there would be very many coming for positive benefit, but many others will desire to leave negatives behind.

Thanks for giving us a leg up (so to speak) on the ‘latrine logic’ of the La-Raza Libertarians. An excellent expose. Too many in power have more fecal matter than grey (although there are coarser ways to put it), and thus fail to realize that the welfare state as our society knows it, and the illegal immigrant pursuing it, are an unethical government’s ultimate WMD. It destroys personal responsibility, personal accountability, any sense of liability, fosters lie-ability and laziness, and generally contributes to the delinquency of the recipients (there are exceptions of course, but fewer exceptions among the immigrant masses than the domestic ones I’d wager). BTW, since exposing such ‘sandbox sophistry’ is your strong suit, I’ve included (for your convenience) a handy-dandy list of additional, appropriate, alliterative, adjectival phrases for your use.

Latrine logic may also be characterized as a ‘johnny’ judgement, a hoary ‘head’, lavatory linkage, privy prattle (or potty), sandbox syllogism, the ‘throne’thesis, or a restroom rationale.

Grateful as always for the considerable light you shed,

    Ray

I left the Libertarian Party three years ago over borders. If individuals have a right to private property, certainly they have a collective right to private property as well. Boundaries, borders, fences have a purpose – to keep the good in and the bad out. Your own skin is a border example in nature. People have a right to have a country, draw a line in the sand, and say we choose to live this way (with a Constitution guaranteeing individual rights). You can live your way as you choose but leave us free to do the same.

The LP has a very un-libertarian position on borders. I haven’t figured out if they are victims of their own perverted idealistic ideology, but they pull a major idiocy on borders. I’ve written and pleaded with them but it is like talking to walls, so I left them.

One friend says it is like putting a sign in your front yard, “All are welcome here, there are no locked doors, or guns.” [See “America’s Open House“] Open borders are an obvious attempt by Bush, his neocons, and the NWO to erase the American middle-class and set up their one-world fascist state. Why libertarians can’t see this obvious ruse is beyond me. Will enough Americans awaken in time to save the Republic is the question of the day. Thank You Ilana. TC in S. Oregon

Concha, we don’t want to alienate the ‘old settler’ folks of Spanish origin who’ve resided in the SW for generations. Many folks of such description bravely fought alongside Anglos in the war of Texas indepenence against the despotism of Santa Ana, for example. It’s good and only natural that many such folks also oppose the invasion that is under way.

The issue we face today is a collusion of two groups of very wealthy ruling elites – the Mexican and the American. The Mexican elites have a great deal here, they get to export Mexico’s entire underclass and skate on having to make Mexico a liveable place for anyone except themselves. The American elites get a great deal, too. They profit from cheap, submissive labor that is partially subsidized by tax dollars. They thus vastly increase their own power and wealth at the expense of the rapidly vanishing US middle class. The Bushes are already married into the Mexican oligarchy (Brother Jeb’s wife). The supranational, unaccountable NAU is being constructed as we sleep. La Raza libertarians are ivory tower ideologues living in a fantasyland, not the real world.
