The twits were indeed atwitter:
Tara: I’m probably retarded for asking this, but who is Osama and why is it good that he died?
Cory: Who is Osama and why is it important we killed him?
Shawn: who is Osama Bin Laden? Is he in the band as well?
Reptilian brains like these took their spring-break behavior to the streets when the news about bin Laden’s demise broke. They too are who we are.
Why not own our atavism? There will always be a marginalized, underbelly of genius and ingenuity in America. But for the rest, we have morphed into a militant, mindless people.
In its clodhopper’s traipse around the world, our military has caused the deaths and displacement of hundreds of thousands of people, squandered trillions of our debased dollars, destroyed at least two countries, and crippled the American economy. Had the ‘Pac Men Of The Universe’ undertaken and achieved a precision operation after 9/11—it would be worth celebrating. But not now.
Conga lines of jubilant Americans must, by sad necessity, give way to welfare lines. If recent news reports are to be believed, one in seven Americans stands in-line for food stamps from the government.
That is now the alpha and omega of American life. …”

or … “We” should have legalized heroin and lent our assistance to Saddam Hussein and “Chemical” Ali in the enrichment of their 550 tons of yellow cake to meet the future energy requirements of Iraq. No need for special forces. Peace and prosperity in the lives of the good people of Iraq and Afghanistan should have been their reward for showing us, the Great Satan, the error of our wicked ways.
Had “We” been truly prescient, “We” would have impeached GW for stealing the election. Al would have surely brought all of our military forces home, given all oil producing countries in the Middle East free windmills in exchange for shutting down production from their carbon emitting oil fields. All of mankind would have been spared the fate of self combustion that “We” have as our destiny.
If only “We” could turn back the clock. Instead of shame, “We” too could be enjoying the bountiful blessings that flow from the “religion of peace”.
Some incipient Nazi on “Fox and Friends” has proposed on two consecutive mornings that the problem Ilana has described be solved by the development of a “national 9-11 curriculum” to be taught in U.S. schools. Next week, 5:00 a.m. calisthenics for Kindergartners. You cannot make this stuff up!
In ancient times, self-made bogeymen like Stalin and Hitler who were seen publicly by millions of followers. Nowadays, a CIA-Saudi manufactured demo, bin Laden, who was created to go after the Soviets that we lured into Afghanistan (to bankrupt them!). All that INFORMED people like us “know” about this rogue phantom demon over the last 2 decades was basically spoon fed to us by the government and therefore it is difficult to claim that the tweeting teen twits are any more IGNORANT than “we” are.

As for American soldiers, imagine patrolling Jihadistan where 8 year old boys and 75 year old grannies help plant bombs that maim your friends – it takes very little to dehumanize all the native population
into “g-oks”, “ragheads”, “n-ggers” and to treat them accordingly.
America manufactures foreign monsters to go after other monsters and then we turn our own boys into monsters to chase after the rogue monsters whom we created! USA!!! USA!!!

When I was little I recall not understanding why the Reagan administration was so prone to what I describe today as invective. Whereas the Obama administration is more aptly described as hysterical. The entertainment aspect of that is simply superb.
Robert is one of those people who have bought in on the “Saddam was about to nuke us” fable peddled by Cheney and the Fox Gang. There will ALWAYS be true believers since you can never prove a “what if”. Well, thank God for the Spanish American War or else King Alfonso XIII might have nukes us….
