Update II: The Carnage Continues; So Does Mandela’s Silence

“Only 70 miles from a 2010 World Cup football stadium, a farmer’s wife and a boy aged 13 learn to defend themselves with lethal weapons. They say thousands of white landowners have been killed by Zimbabwe-style marauders; their black rulers accuse them of belligerence and right-wing tendencies. Aidan Hartley reports on the war of words you won’t read about in your World Cup holiday brochure.”

And only a handful of journalists have been willing to report on the fate of white, rural folks in Mandela’s South Africa. Aidan Hartley of the British Daily Mail joins a select few. Read his report:

“Bella wakes. She hears a strangled, gurgling sound. It’s the dog, she thinks.

‘Peter, there’s something wrong,’ she says to her husband. Noises emerge from the room of her mother-in-law, who’s 98 and confined to a wheelchair.

It’s 1am. Bella gets up and walks out of the bedroom. In the hall she sees a young man who at first she thinks is her son. Except he’s black, wears a balaclava and is pointing a gun at her.

‘He comes for me,’ says Bella, her hand before her tear-stained face.

‘He’s going to shoot me! I trip as I run back to the bedroom. Peter comes to the door but he has nothing in his hand, no pistol. I hear a gun go off. I hear my mother-in-law screaming. I lock the door and telephone my son. I tell him: “I think they shot Pa!”’

Two men are outside the bedroom window with a rifle. She loads the pistol Peter keeps by the bed.

‘I take the gun and say, “Come on! I’ll shoot you!”’

Back in the hall she finds Peter dead, a trail of blood across the kitchen floor. Her mother-in-law Gerda is bruised and beaten.

‘I can’t tell you how hopeless I felt,’ Bella says. ‘I will see it in front of me for weeks, months, years.’ …

Days after Peter is cremated, the attackers return. The survivors are sleeping elsewhere by now, so the gang finds only the dogs in the house. They torture the animals with boiling water before soaking them in petrol and setting them on fire. [A fate that is not reserved for dogs and would have befallen their owners had they been in residence.–IM]

I ask Bella for a motive and she says a group of black South Africans who are squatting on their farmland have repeatedly threatened them.

After the family find the dogs, Bella’s son Piet calls the police. Weeks later the attackers are still at large; police arrested one man in connection with the killing but he was later released.

I am in her home. The bullet holes are still clearly visible. I ask her what she is going to do.

‘If we stay here they will kill us. You can’t say this was a dream, or rewind what happened. They want our land.’ …

…. Driving around Mpumalanga Province, east of Johannesburg, in what used to be the Transvaal, I found myself called by the farmers to a string of grisly murder scenes. In some the blood was still drying on the furniture or the street. In others, witnesses gave me accounts of killings involving rituals of extreme brutality: of victims boiled alive, forced to kneel and shot execution style and tortured in ways so unimaginable they are too horrendous to print. The same goes for the many pictures I have been shown of the barely identifiable corpses and horrific crime scenes.” …

Read the rest of Hartley’s report.

Update: WHAT WOULD GLENN SAY? I wonder what Beck the Boer basher say, in his histrionics, about KK (Kommando Korps) “formed to provide self-defence training for Afrikaner communities who feel under threat in today’s South Africa. Most of them came from the capital, Pretoria, which the government wants to rename Tshwane to reflect its pre-colonial, African history: an example of what the Afrikaners regard as the dilution of their historic identity.” [Boers built the place, so of course it should be renamed for the Bantu.]

Glenn: “OMIGOD, KK is short for KKK.” (As if everything begins and ends with the American perspective.)

And what would Glenn Beck, who sees fascists where there are only desperation and a legitimate quest for separation from evil incarnate, say of “Franz Jooste, who likes to be referred to using the old Boer paramilitary rank of ‘Kommandant”’?

The Telegraph:

“The KK was set up 20 years ago but has struggled to bring in new blood or funding in recent years. It runs training camps across the country to provide a pool of potential combatants if a war is declared against the Afrikaner people. In the meantime, unpaid KK operatives in military-style uniforms defend vulnerable white communities against what they describe as ‘a guerilla war’ and ‘genocide.'”

Before the KK, “Boer farmers were organised into farm militias known as Commandos. These defended rural communities from assault and, just over a century ago, they formed the vanguard of the rebellion against the hated British Empire. … In recent years the government has moved to disband the Commando units as part of a security plan to improve policing nationwide.”

Update II (April 16): About the link provided by our South African readers to images of the killings. I have seen the pictures. In my heart I have hoped hard that what I saw has not been inflicted on humans (or animals) and that these were forgeries (it’s hard to come by sourcing). Sadly, I fear I am wrong. What I have seen in the mangled flesh is the handiwork of pure evil. Again, I have not used these images out of respect for the victims, but also, mainly, becasue they are not sourced. I will allow them on the blog.

Moreover, as readers of this space know, I keep three lead blog posts open at any given time for comment. Of the three that propagate to the IlanaMercer.com’s front page, I will try and make one about South Africa, my homeland and my homies. We will keep the topic alive.

Regular readers and visitors, I hope, will send others to Barely a Blog and to www.IlanaMercer.com (archived under “South Africa”). So that blog and main site become a repository for facts and analysis about what’s underway in the once glorious South Africa.

So B. Hussein Obama is pressing the Israeli government to make all sorts of concessions to the Palestinians, yet what would he, or any other Western leader, have to say about the endemic anti-white violence in South Africa and what pressure would ever be brought to bear on the left-wing, anti-white government there? (A rhetorical question, as I already know full and well the answer.)

  2. james huggins

I started not to comment here as I’m sure all of your readers have heard my input on this subject more than once but my feelings are strong here. We face the same potential situation here as the South Africans. The mindless and escalating violence in our cities as well as the murderous violence on the Mexican border are warnings to us all. The ongoing thread through it all is the hatred and lack of human respect for white Americans. A lot of people had better get their heads out of their Ipods and start to pay attention to where the world in general and this country in particular is headed.

  3. Van Wijk

This is so frustrating. Savages only respect the point of a lance. Farm attack training is a good start, but the Boers must be prepared, physically and mentally, to use combat levels of violence in their own defense. That means depending on the government for nothing and showing the blacks that even the slightest bit of threatening behavior will bring an overwhelming response. I daresay that the group of black squatters should have been ambushed and wiped out immediately after the white family learned of their presence. [They can’t do so by law, and, as you know, some people simply cannot flout the law.]

Commandos mauled the finest colonial army in the world on many occasions. They could do so again. A lion is never more dangerous than when it’s cornered.

Thank you for the article you wrote Ilana (worldnetdaily posted 09 April)- I’m a 26 year old South African. As a woman reading all of what is published scares me- but it is reality and the world needs to know the truth.

  5. Gringo Malo

Perhaps a blood bath among World Cup tourists in SA will serve to get Americans’ heads out of their iPods, or whatever. I’m trying to sound an optimistic note, believe it or not.

    Dear Ilana Mercer

Thank you for your honest and balanced writing about South Africa.

I am an amateur political activist for South Africa and against the murderous ANC and have not seen much other fair reporting as your blog and eloquent coverage.

(I am considering suing the S-African government abroad for the organized spreading of global race hatred)

I am neither an extremist, a hater nor any of those labels people like myself get labeled with. I’m a Canadian European.
But I do see a genocide approaching in Africa the likes we have not seen since WW2 and the result will be global race hatred and retaliations globally.

    All the signs are there.

Honest reporting and a voice in the wilderness helps show the truth and hopefully help black Hitlers like Julius Malema and his sponsors in the ANC et all end up in The Hague. The sooner the better.

I wish you and your supporters will intensify the exposure of the criminal ANC

Ps. I lost loved ones in South Africa and its ANC hate speech is now increasingly affecting North American African youth.
A group of Young misdirected African Americans beat my mother (a tourist to the USA) to a pulp in Florida. She was a 65 year old senior at the time.

And to Obama. You have completely lost support of my American friends for praising a complicit race hater like Zuma. Here in Asia you are equally being ridiculed by a local ethnically diverse population. You can perhaps try to blame the US economy on your predecessors.
But your praise of a hated dictator without clearly expressing concern for the genocide in South Africa is your personal doing.
Mistaken support of that dictatorial murderous and race hating ANC dictatorship has secured you a place in the books of ridicule and infamy. [To be fair, Bush and his predecessor loved the ANC as much.]

Its also known that US civil rights failures and African American gang members with criminal records are openly supporting and partaking in genocidal farm murders in SA.

The US embassy proudly proclaims black history month while shortly after you visit and publicly praise the murderous dictator president Zuma of South Africa.

His party sings: “Kill the farmer, shoot to kill, one bullet one farmer, kill the white man.” Is that what you support Mr. Obama. You praised a South African president who has 7 wives, raped a woman, officially had unsafe sex with an HIV positive woman, and who has a security minister whose wife was arrested for trafficking drugs twice.

South Africa has now the murder, rape, torture and car jacking #1 spot on the globe. Teenagers Children and seniors in South Africa frequently get gang raped to death and get limbs cut off while still alive while the South African ANC government says nothing.

And yet you, USA president OBAMA praised President Zuma???
When people come home in body bags from the world cup—people of all creeds and ethnicity—we will remember your praise of President Zuma. “Yes we can, yes we will”: I hope Mr Obama, you fire your advisers on South Africa and still repair what you have done before its to late and your reputation is completely shattered. [His opinion is widely shared among both political parties.] Look at the pictures of farm murders Mr. Obama. The thousands of mutilated, tortured hacked to death bodies. Is that what you envision for the USA? Some of those pictures were my friends who were neither racist nor employed poor Xhosa or Zulu.

What exactly is the FBI and your Obama administration doing about complicit convicted US criminals with fake African names who are openly advocating race hatred & murder of all non whites. These people are actively sponsoring race hatred on radios in South Africa.

Before passing judgment watch this interview.
After that I will agree wholeheartedly that a certain flag with fascist symbolism is idiotic and unacceptable.

However, separate the posted interview intellectually and judge it on its content and merit without prior bias created by a world Media.

To simply ridicule and discard an opinion and argument by discrediting an individual through character assassination is neither intellectually honest nor does it provide any viable solutions to real problems.

Such attitude in fact creates the hate filled extremist revolutionary society can do without.

We should separate the flawed or labeled individual from the political grievance itself which is presented.

Example: If one man is labeled a racist or disliked by some people does it validate this:
    http://censorbugbear-reports.blogspot.com/2009/11/farm-murders-names-dates-sources.html

Because of any shade of skin pigmentation or race can we argue it is OK to rape children, seniors, the defenseless and torture them to death in the most horrid ways and blame historical cause and effect as valid reasoning?

Living in this country (my country as I was born here), I am sickened by what is happening around me. The world watches and does nothing. (Rwanda sound familiar???)

I pity the tourists to the world cup here in a few weeks. Our police farce (pun) cannot/will not help, so to all those visitors, Good luck, enjoy your stay, hope you make it out alive.

If this sounds harsh, pop in and come live with us. See what we have to put up with.

  9. Robert Glisson

I doubt that there will be many deaths at the World Cup, because of how much publicly they have received. One British bulletproof/anti-stab clothing company was advertising a special for the people going to South Africa for the event and other people were publicly expressing their concerns too. The SA government promised to protect the fans as a consequence. I expect they will use the diversion of the World Cup to wreak havoc among the farmers and any whites out of the camera’s eye though.

  10. Keltin

This is currently a local horror in South Africa. [Not so; it’s widespread in SA] It will become a more widespread horror if it is not snuffed out early in it’s degenerate lifespan. Right now it is being fed by the ANC and their governmental lapdogs.

It is not too far a stretch to see this kind of situation occurring in other parts of the West, such as the US, if it is not halted soon. I do understand the feelings of the commenter who said the black murderers should have been ambushed and killed immediately upon finding them on their land. Only a quiet burial would have been the acceptable end result.

If you are not willing to fight back, organize and arm, then you are indeed to become sheep for the wolf.

  11. Recrem Anali

“‘If we stay here they will kill us. You can’t say this was a dream, or rewind what happened. They want our land.’”

So, she means the land her ancestors stole from their ancestors? That land?

  12. Barbara Grant

“So, she means the land her ancestors stole from their ancestors? That land?”

The wealth of the Bantu was in _cattle_, not land. “Land ownership” did not resonate with them (much less, “land development.”) When their herds grazed down the land, the tribes moved on. The idea of “their land” having been stolen is a non-sequitur.

And as I have previously pointed out:

“The Washing of the Spears” by Donald Morris, ca. 1964, details the migration of the Bantu nations (including Zulu, Xhosa, and others) from other parts of Africa to S. Africa. They are not “indigenous” to that particular location, and in fact, gained advantage through their numbers and superior abilities in warfare. Although Ms. Genia’s source is Christian, that does not, in and of itself, guarantee accuracy.

  13. John McNeill

“So, she means the land her ancestors stole from their ancestors? That land?”

What land isn’t stolen? Before the Afrikaners settled in South Africa, Bantu tribes were displacing the Bushmen. If your logic holds, then all Bantu-descended Africans have no right to the land either.

  14. Diane Carol

Ilana, thank you for your article re: Eugene Terreblanche’s murder. I had heard here in the US about his murder, but did not have the accurate facts until reading what you had written. Please continue to post the truth.
I am grieved by what happened to Mr. Terreblanche and the other over 3,000 slain Boer farmers. It’s madness to see what happened in Rhodesia (annihilation of white farmers) now transpiring in South Africa.
My heart and prayers go out to the whites in South Africa. And may God grant peace to Eugene Terreblanche.

  15. Conrad Jacobs

    Hi Ilana

My name is Conrad Jacobs and I am a Boer living in South Africa. I am a 38year old white man with a University degree I am married to a wonderful Christian woman and we have been blessed by the Lord with a beautiful little girl that has just turned 2 years old. My wife is also expecting a second child in these trying times for our people and this country. Thank you very much for writing such a balanced and true article.

We are really staring genocide in the face, according to official statistics about 50 000 whites have been murdered in South Africa since 1994 when peace and the Rainbow Nation was officially brought upon this country. Almost 3 times that figure (150 000) white woman have been raped since 1994. I can assure you these were not crimes that were perpetrated by white people upon white people in 99% of the cases these people were victims of lawless black gangs that roam the cities and countryside. As you stated white farmers are fair game to be hunted and killed in the most savage ways and the government endorses singing of songs by its leaders that encourage their illiterate supporters to perpetrate these acts. It is common practise for black policemen to arrest white males on trumped up charges and then to put them into jail cells with up to a hundred black prisoners many with HIV. This has led to many white men being sodomised by these prison gangs.

Our government is actively implementing laws that are disarming legal licensed gun owners (Mostly whites) saying this will curb crime. While the police force officially Lost or had stolen 4000 Berretta 9mm pistols during the year of 2009. Our country is being overrun with illegal guns like AK47’s flooding in to our country from Mozambique and our friendly neighbour Zimbabwe. Also most crimes and bank robberies/farm attacks that involve guns are committed by gangs armed with AK47 rifles as well as R5 Rifles the official service rifle of the South African Defence force. It seems we are paying taxes so criminal gangs can be armed by the state to murder and rob us, while they are saying it is our legal hunting rifles, shotguns and handguns that are being stolen that is the cause of these violent crimes. We do not own assault rifles and military weapons so where they get their facts is a mystery. It is a desperate attempt to leave us totally helpless for when they finally decide to take us out Rwanda style. Gun control is known to precede Genocide especially if it targets a specific group, look at Rwanda, Nazi Germany, Cambodia and many more.

All these things happen and no one in Europe or the USA gives a dam, if it were whites doing this to blacks or Christians to Muslims like in Bosnia the whole world would have been up in arms about this. But hey it is white’s that are robbed and killed by blacks who were supposedly disadvantaged by the evil practises of the Christian Civilization so that makes it OK.

Everybody in the world including our own black ANC government recognizes the need and supports the establishment of a Palestinian State to bring stability to the Middle East, but the Boer people has no right to this according to them. We have been here since 1652, we built all the infrastructure that is here, we cultivated farms and mined the minerals of this country. We fought the British for 3 years (1899 to 1902) to protect our freedom and self determination. In this process 26000 Boer/Afrikaner woman and children died in British concentration camps a quarter of the total Boer woman and children in the 2 Boer republics at that stage. We were officially recognized as a nation and a people by none other than the British Empire the superpower of the world at that time. They had legally recognized us with the peace treaty they signed with us at Vereeniging. Now the whole world believes the Palestinians should have a homeland and that Israel is a legal state, but the Boer People are not worthy of such a thing and we are not a recognized Nation. It smacks of hypocrisy, does it not.

We had legal tender over the land, something we voluntarily surrendered in 1994. We had the most prosperous country in Africa with the highest level of education among Blacks in Africa. Many blacks from other failed African States actually came to South Africa in order to escape the poverty and Marxism in their own countries. We gave in to majority rule so that everybody could share in the wealth and so there would be peace among the races here in the land of our birth. We did not need to do this we had the 5th strongest army in the world in 1994 according to Jane’s Defence Weekly and a substantial arsenal of tactical Nuclear weapons. We were seeking justice and peace and now we are facing total extinction as reward.

My family have been here since 1680 to flee religious persecution in France. We were part of the Great Trek to escape British rule, we fought the Zulu’s and Matebele’s and lost loved ones in the process. By doing this we helped to bring peace and Christianity to the Interior of South Africa. We fought the British in the Boer war so we could retain our freedom and lost women and children in the death camps. My great grandfather was a prisoner of war on Saint Helena because of this. My family fought on the side of the Allies against Hitler and Mussolini in North Africa with British, American, Australian and troops of all nations to stop Nazism in its tracks. We fought the expansion of Marxism in Angola and on our borders to the north during the cold war as a ally to the Americans and the west. Without us doing this the Soviet Union might have gained total control over South Africa and the strategic shipping routes around the Cape of Good Hope. This might have even tipped the balance of the Cold War in favour of the Soviets. The West owes us for services voluntarily rendered over the past hundred years in pursuit of justice.

Please let the truth get out! We are facing a threat far greater than all the threats we faced in the past, we are facing a hostile world that has no pity on us and a government actively planning our extermination. This is only the beginning and if we are not helped by the governments in the West our blood will be on their hands.

Hopefully our brothers and sisters in the West will see our plight and take pity. Otherwise the very light of the Christian Civilization on the continent of Africa might be extinguished forever. And please remember the onslaught won’t stop when the last one of us perishes. The battlefields will just move to US and European Shores (It is already happening as we speak), as the Boer people and South Africa is just a small piece in the puzzle that is ultimately the plan for the destruction of our Christian Civilization as a whole.

May God forgive us our sins and have mercy on us. This might very well be the last very sad chapter in the history of the Afrikaner people.

    Kind regards

  16. Hans Engelbrecht

Fisrtly, it is good to see that not only Ilana, but also her readers are more educated than your average American on the issues of crime in SA, as well as the history of SA.

Secondly, for those who still believe the issue of black on white crime is overstated (or whites deserve what they get), look at the following link (scroll down in the section headed “Boycott 2010 World Cup):

BE WARNED, IT IS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC.

(Ps: I understand if you remove the link or post Ilana, and apologise in advance)

  17. Barbara Grant

Another interesting book is “Kingmakers: The History of the Modern Middle East,” by Karl E. Meyer and Shareen Blair Brysac. From the title, one wouldn’t suspect that the book had anything to do with Africa in general, or South Africa, in particular; however, in an early chapter, the issue of “regime change” is covered. Turns out that large deposits of gold were discovered in the Transvaal, a Boer republic of the time; and Cecil Rhodes in 1895 along with others schemed to provide a rebellion (the failed “Jameson Raid”) whose goal was to promote an uprising among the British citizens living in that location. It didn’t work, despite the best efforts of many including London Times journalist Flora Shaw (a forerunner of Judith Miller of the New York Times) but the ultimate result was the Second Boer War in which many Boer civilian women and children died in British concentration camps (as Conrad, above, notes.)

We don’t hear much about that in America; we are, after all of British descent in our political system if not ethnicity. Yes, our (clueless) President Obama recently welcomed Jacob Zuma; but so did Queen Elizabeth. I wonder if the plight of Boer farmers was raised at either state occasion.

  18. Barbara Grant

To correct: I meant, “Kingmakers: the Invention of the Modern Middle East.”
