Missile defense like the Israelis had against the HAMAS missiles “worked” because:

1. The missiles were poorly guided – hence only a limited number required defense.

2. The missile attack was not near-simultaneous – hence the system was not overwhelmed.

3. The missiles did not have nukes – hence they either fell harmlessly or one or two
hit a home or building with limited damage.

However, 34 years after Reagan’s “Star Wars” speech of March 23, 1983 and half a trillion dollars, we are still as vulnerable to massive damage in a nuclear war.

The other reality is that one cannot decouple “defense” from “offense” in that the US may be more likely to be offensively “reckless” if we think (real or delusion) that we are “invulnerable.”

As to THAAD (Terminal High-Altitude Area Defence): The Department of Defense contractors believe in them, but then they are just tested in DoD controlled scenarios. Still, China and North Korea think they are aggressive and this might get them to be more on a “hair trigger” to launch if they think the US is going to start a war. It is always a messy “calculus” of mass destruction.

The history of America’s “Hitler of the year” villains like Saddam, Qaddafi, Assad, and now Kim Jong Un is that the US seems incapable of learning from its mistakes. Kim Jong Un learned to never give up nuclear weapons – they are his lifeline. Even if he fired three at Seoul and three at Tokyo and only one got to hit both cities – that is enough of a threat to scare the shit out of everyone. With nukes, it doesn’t matter if you can stop “most” or if a few still get through!

Lincoln-Era Republicans Rabbited On About Racism, While Enslaving & Slaughtering Native Americans

You won’t hear about the Radical Republicans, circa 1865, and their version of the KKK (The Union League), from Mr. Sean Hannity (or Stuart Varney).

Nor will you likely have ever heard that Lincoln-era Republicans took recreational time off from subjugating the South to:

  • butcher the Dakota Sioux in Minnesota (1862)
  • march the Navajos on the Long Walk to national extinction (1864)
  • slaughter the elderly, the women and the children of the Cheyennes and Arapahos (1864), parading their scalps and genitalia.

The “Republican Party’s vision for expansion” and consolidation was manifested in what is termed Manifest Destiny.

In other words, while freeing the slaves (allegedly) and subjugating the South (indubitably); the Union Army enslaved and slaughtered native Americans. Nice. (Oh, I forget: Some of our countrymen do think that was just dandy.)

Republicans, seemingly, have always rabbited on obsessively about racism vis-a-vis blacks—been obsessed with genuflecting to blacks—while, at the same time, rubbishing the Amerindians.

When modern-day Republican bobble-heads profess their pride in being the philosophical heiresses to the Radical Republicans, know this: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and “Pocahontas,” aka Elizabeth Warren, are with them in spirit, cheering the Radical Republicans on.

Elizabeth Warren would quickly ditch her fraudulently and opportunistically claimed Native American ancestry to agitate for today’s Antifa blacks. In this, the pseudo-Pocahontas is a Lincoln-era Republican.

A Cub For The Caliphate. Yippee; His Daddy Serves In Our Military.

Thank US immigration policies for this cute Cub for the Caliphate. The junior Jihadi, “Yusuf,” is probably a third generation Muslim-American. Say “Thanks for your service” to Yusuf’s daddy. Yusuf’s daddy is serving with your son, or daughter or your sexually TBD (To Be Determined) progeny : LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning).

The Islamic State has released a new propaganda video featuring an American boy who speaks directly to President Trump, calling him “the puppet of the Jews” and warns that “this battle will not end in Raqqa or Mosul;” it will end in the United States.

In the video, entitled The Fertile Nation 4, the young boy, identifying himself as 10-year-old “Yusuf,” says he made hijrah, or pilgrimage, to the Caliphate from America, “the land of the Kuffar (nonbeliever)” along with his mother two years ago. He is now in Raqqa, he says.

According to Yusuf, his father is an American soldier who served in Iraq, and without any knowledge about Islam, he began to learn once he reached the Islamic State.

He roots his threats to President Trump and the American people on an “Allah” who has “promised victory and not defeat,” and ends with “so get ready because the fighting has just begun.”

“We will remain until the day of judgement,” his 7-year-old ‘comrade’ says in the video, as an instructor shows them how to adjust the lens on viewfinder mounted on top of a gun.

In the past, the Islamic State has frequently called upon its native English speakers from England, Australia, South Africa and the U.S. to deliver stern warnings in its videos in English and to demonstrate the interest of Western supporter to the jihadi cause.

Also typical of previous ISIS videos, Yusuf again mentions U.S. culpability in the bombing Raqqa with “all kind of bombs including phosphorus shells.”

He introduces a friend, “Abdullah from Sinjar,” a 7-year-old who says he is a Yazidi who was abducted by ISIS when they captured Sinjar. He continues that he lives with Yusuf and is now learning about Islam.

“Islam is what unites Yusuf and I together” he says, with subsequent video footage of the two boys walking in a Raqqa playground followed by showing homes that they allege were targeted by the U.S.-led coalition….

IN A NEW ESSAY, I argue that the entire debate about LGBTQ (“Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning”) in the military is a fig leaf, camouflaging that the Army was neutered in the 1990s. The military is now making the transition from gender neutrality to gender fluidity. It’s a Brave New World.

The backdrop to these ideas is in “An X-Rated Conversation About LGBTQ & XX (Women) In The Military.” It’s on The Unz Review, America’s smartest webzine. An excerpt:

PREDICTABLY, the Joint Chiefs of Staff have already pooh-poohed President Trump’s July 26th LGBTQ directives, banning the politicized transgender production from the theater of war. …

… LGBTQ is a political program why? Central to the concept of “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning” in the military is the idea of a group whose members have chosen to identify not as Private X or Private Y, but as a party to a political fraternity that promises and delivers an aggressive, noisy, sexual identity politics.

Evangelizing for the cause is implicit in the introduction of this political production into the military. Ditto payment for drastic elective medical procedures and the attendant hormonal maintenance. In other words, LGBTQ in the military isn’t about enhancing a fighting force, it’s about introducing another state-driven reformation program. Egalitarian access here aims, inadvertently (as always), to grow an arm of government and, at the same time, “re-educate” the country.

Moreover, LGBTQ in the military is but another “Draconian social policy [enforced] without showing any interest in—and in many cases actively suppressing—good-faith information about how those policies [are] playing out at ground level,” in the prescient words of Stephanie Gutmann, author of “The Kinder, Gentler Military: Can America’s Gender-Neutral Fighting Force Still Win Wars?”

Girls: It was about their presence in the military that Gutmann was warning, circa 2000, not “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning.” As trailblazing as Ms. Gutmann’s shoe-leather investigation was, back then, into the way women had transformed the military, its morale and readiness—never could this author have imagined that from gender neutrality, the military would move into the even Braver New World of gender fluidity.

Gutmann saddled “Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton, Secretaries of Defense Richard Cheney, Les Aspin, and William Cohen, the Congresses who wrote and passed the bills they signed, and the Pentagon leadership who just grinned nervously and sat on their hands while all of this was going on.”

What were the fatal conceits of these leaders and their legislation?

“One of the projects mesmerizing the brass throughout the nineties was the integration of women. … [T]he nineties were a decade in which the brass handed over their soldiers to social planners in love with an unworkable (and in many senses undesirable) vision of a politically correct utopia, one in which men and women toil side by side, equally good at the same tasks, interchangeable, and, of course, utterly undistracted by sexual interest.”
