UPDATE II: Great Conversation About ‘Into the Cannibal’s Pot’

I had a wonderful time talking about my new book, “Into the Cannibal’s Pot: Lessons for America from Post-Apartheid South Africa,” with two interesting men, James Edwards and Bill Rolen of The Political Cesspool, a nationally syndicated Radio Show, today, Saturday, July 16, at 5:00PM Pacific.

I got quite passionate, but then you can do that when you feel you’re among individuals who value open debate and happen to be marvelously intelligent gentlemen too. If the men were hostile to an individualist’s perspective, as some have suggested here, they did not let on. Both Bill and James addressed the arguments advanced in my book. That’s the sum-total of a good interviewer.

I hope you search for the podcast on Political Cesspool Radio Program.

UPDATE I: James has just emailed the URL for the show’s podcasts, mine being the one on the 16th.

UPDATE II (July 17): Since I gave the exact time, date and day of this conversation, in this post, it should not be too hard for any individual to figure out when during the program I appeared. There is a limit as to how much info feeding I can do.

I’m not normally a fan of James Edwards, but I was impressed with his (and Bill’s) professionalism. I highly recommend listening to the interview.

Were you there for the whole 3 hours? If not, which one? Internet is sloooww here, so it would be nice not to waste any.

Miss Mercer is on in the second hour. I am a fan of The Political Cesspool Radio Program, and am not normally a fan of Miss Mercer’s, but I found the interview to be very informative and insightful.

I listened to you on the Political Cesspool last night and you were a great guest. I hope you will return to that program many times. I plan to buy your book. I have read articles by you before and can only say: keep up the good work!

[Thanks you. And welcome to BAB]

You are in the SECOND HOUR on 7/16 in the broadcast.

The book arrived – now I have to find the time to read it.

I did not like many of the commentary found at the site
    http://www.thepoliticalcesspool.org/jamesedwards/2011/07/15/author-columnist-ilana-mercer-will-be-featured-guest-on-saturday-nights-live-show/
which had a lot of anti-Semitic responses (on the website above).

Anyway, you criticized the flaws in the old Apartheid regime. It would have been nice for classical liberalism (e.g. where the rights of the individual count more than racial power and/or “majority rule” and/or “my tribe beats your tribe” philosophy) could have found a solution to South Africa.

Again, I shall read the book but I certainly see the political struggles in America as often Republican “soft fascism” vs. Democratic “soft socialism” with classical liberalism trampled by both “sides”. I shall look for the similarities and differences between the South African decline and America’s.

[Looking forward to a Pauli review, good or bad, on Amazon; some of our brilliant BAB readers seem to have done so already.—IM]

I know I’ve commented before but I will do so again. “Into the Cannibal’s Pot” is about South Africa but offers and in-depth discussion of a problem with world-wide implications and is especially relevant for America. Read and heed folks.

I ordered the book on Sunday. Amazon says delivery is expected second week of August! Baffling. Anyway, I’m not a great writer so not sure if I will be reviewing, but waiting to read nonetheless.

[You write plenty well to jot down what you took away form the book, if anything, on Amazon. Much appreciated.]
