'He's One Of Them – She's One Of Us'

Affirmative Action, Barack Obama, Elections 2008, John McCain, Media, Sarah Palin

MSNBC’s Barack Brigade—Chris Matthews (said Obama sends a chill up his leg), Norah O’Donnell (like Campbell Brown, she too is not working with much) and wild man Keith Olbermann—attempts to speak over MSNBC analyst Pat Buchanan whenever he opens his mouth. Fortunately, the man writes up a storm. In the process, Buchanan manages to say it all about the Palin factor and human nature:

“Why did the selection of Sarah Palin cause a suspension of all standards and a near riot among a media that have been so in the tank for Barack even ‘Saturday Night Live’ has satirized the infatuation?

Because she is one of us – and he is one of them.

Barack and Michelle are affirmative action, Princeton, Columbia, Harvard Law. She is public schools and Idaho State. Barack was a Saul Alinsky social worker who rustled up food stamps. Sarah Palin kills her own food.

Michelle has a $300,000-a-year sinecure doing PR for a Chicago hospital. Todd Palin is a union steelworker who augments his income working vacations on the North Slope. Sarah has always been proud to be an American. Michelle was never proud of America – until Barack started winning.

Barack has zero experience as an executive. Sarah ran her own fishing fleet, was mayor for six years and runs the largest state in the union. She belongs to a mainstream Christian church. Barack was, for 15 years, a parishioner at Trinity United and had his daughters baptized by Pastor Jeremiah Wright, whose sermons are saturated in black power, anti-white racism and anti-Americanism.

Sarah is a rebel. Obama has been a go-along, get-along cog in the Daley Machine. She is Middle America. Barack, behind closed doors in San Francisco, mocked Middle Americans as folks left behind by the global economy who cling bitterly to their Bibles, bigotries and guns.

Barack has zero foreign policy experience. Palin runs a state that is home to anti-missile, missile and air defense bases facing the Far East, commands the Alaska National Guard and has a soldier-son heading for Iraq.

Barack, says the National Journal, has the most left-wing voting record in the Senate, besting Socialist Bernie Sanders. Palin’s stances read as though they were lifted from Reagan’s 1980 “no pale pastels” platform. And this is what this media firestorm is all about.”

Those who dare not speak honestly will omit the following: When you and I look at the Obamas we see accusing, blaming eyes. This, even though they are better off than we and have had opportunities we’ve not had because we’re the official “oppressors” and they’re the sanctioned “oppressed.”

Unrelated: Palin must muster a fresh speech; she keeps regurgitating her Convention address while campaigning. The lines sounded stale the first time she reused them.

‘The Obamanation of Desolation’

Affirmative Action, America, Barack Obama, Christianity, Political Philosophy, Racism, The West, The Zeitgeist

A magnificent, crisply argued piece by the peerless Thomas Fleming, who happens to be a nimble stylist as well. Here are some highlights:

“The appearance of John McCain and Barack Obama at Saddleback, California’s ‘purpose-driven’ church marks the ultimate ascent of Rick Warren to the Gantry-in-Chief of the P.T. Barnum Church of America.”
“A liberal, as I never tire of quoting (from Robert Frost), is someone who would not take his own side in an argument. Rich liberals naturally support high taxes and extravagant government expenditures on the poor, preferably the undeserving poor. A male liberal—we can hardly call such creatures men—favors women’s rights; heterosexual liberals favor “Gay” “marriage,” and European-American liberals prefer all cultures to that of Europe. And, if these idiots condescend to note their skin color, they hate it or at least they think they do.”
“The DNC and the media can tell any lies they like, but they cannot change the fact that the Democratic presidential candidate hates Whites, including the members of his mother’s family who showed him every kindness. Compared with the average self-proclaimed white bigot who says he loves his ancestors, Obama is one sick and sorry excuse for a human being.”
“[Obama’s] claim to be a Christian is his best evidence that he was never a Muslim.”
[S]etting aside race-loyalty, greed, and the libido dominandi, how could anyone else hold his nose long enough to vote for anyone who talks in that smarmy adenoidal voice? When Obama gets on his pulpit, it sounds almost like he is swallowing his words in a sea of phlegm. He does not so much speak as (to quote what Alexander Wolcott once said of a theater audience) strum his catarrh. His self-righteous public persona should grate on the sensibilities of normal people–like nails on a chalkboard or the voice of Mariah Carey. And yet, some otherwise normal people voted for him in the primaries and will vote for him again in the general election. Why or rather how?”
[A]nyone will be better than Bush–is not an easy argument to refute—except in the case of Obama and McCain.
“However you describe Affirmative Action and minority set-asides, they represent a deliberate and systematic policy of discrimination against people like me in favor of people not like me simply because they are not like me. Such disgusting and immoral policies are worse than any form of racism I have encountered because they teach us to hate precisely those whom we are most supposed to love.”
“Bigotry these days has nothing to do with the way you treat people or even with what you actually say. Bigotry is what they say you are thinking when they play your speech backward at half speed.”
“[W]e should not make the mistake of blaming black people for the suicide we continue to inflict on ourselves. We white males are the problem, not blacks, women, homosexuals, or Mexicans. We–at least the liberal part of “we”– turned away from our religion and our civilization; we made war on property and marriage; we rejected Haydn and Sophocles in favor of John Cage and Kate Chopin. We have emasculated ourselves, pithed our brains, destroyed our vision and hearing, and now, all that is left, is to vote for a candidate whose rhetoric at least is telling us to fling our worthless carcasses off the cliff. I blush even to hint at this but John McCain is now the only alternative to suicide.”

Updated: Michelle Obama Takes Center Stage

Affirmative Action, Barack Obama, Democrats, Elections 2008

Michelle Obama will headline the 2008 Democratic National Convention. In a remarkable bit of dissembling or stupidity, Chris Wallace of Fox News—who is nowhere near the journalist Wallace Senior was—found no particular significance in the event. This is the first time a candidate’s wife will front a convention.

I think this is a matter of considerable portent. It speaks to the position this woman will assume in the White House. It’s a legitimate supposition. But Fox News is now fawning over Obama—probably in fear of being snubbed by the royal couple and their fans who want to see them in action all the time. Wallace, for Fox, simply spun Michelle’s surprising prominence as the campaign’s attempt to entrust her with rehabilitating Barack’s life story and giving it the American patina it lacks. Michelle Obama is so obviously the wrong person to do so.

The Obamas will be welcoming on stage “Barack Obama’s sister Maya Soetero-Ng and Craig Robinson, Michelle Obama’s older brother; [and] Jerry Kellman, mentor and long-time friend of Barack Obama.” A real tribal affair.

How I wish Jeremiah Wright would write a tell-all about The Child.

Update (August 26, 2008): One word for Mrs. Obama’s speech: pure schmaltz: “maudlin sentimentality.” But the Obama Nation was slobbering and spluttering. The “parrot press” too. You can read her remarks in the New York Times.

I have a question about Michelle’s claim that her “story” is the story of an average, working-class American (her family was middle-class):

“And thanks to their faith and their hard work, we both were able to go to college, so I know firsthand from their lives and mine that the American dream endures.”

Mrs. Obama, in all likelihood, was accepted to Ivy League schools based on the robust program of affirmative action that poisons those places. This means that with test scores lower than those of other candidates, likely whites and Asians, she would have gotten a placement; and her betters would have been rejected.

Is this what is meant to share the experience of the majority that dare not speak its name?

The theme the woman kept reciting—changing “the world as it is” to “the world as it should be“: now that was telling. She has the blueprints to the central plan—she and her central planner husband have decided on the shape your world should take under their tutelage.

Will ‘Racial Bean Counter’ Be The First Black Attorney General?

Affirmative Action, Barack Obama, Elections 2008, Race, Racism

You had better hope not.

About the “racial bean counter” that may inherit the earth if Obama does, VDARE.COM’s Matthew Richer writes the following:

“What was most strikingly unique about Assistant Attorney General Deval Patrick’s leadership was the degree to which he used the power of his office to intimidate American citizens into conforming with his vision of civil rights. Patrick knew well that most cities, towns and small businesses cannot afford to defend themselves against a Justice Department lawsuit. All it often took was for Patrick to initiate a Justice Department “probe” of some civil organization, and then he could bend it to his vision of justice.

During his confirmation hearings, of course, Deval Patrick claimed that he did not believe in racial quotas. But once confirmed, Patrick arrogantly began to impose racial preferences in the guise of law enforcement. He was especially opposed to cognitive examinations for prospective police officers and firemen alleging that they result in an unjustly high failure rate for black applicants. Patrick then tried to force municipalities to adopt a Justice…”
