UPDATED: Megyn Kelly’s ‘Journalistic’ Method

Celebrity, Donald Trump, Feminism, Journalism, Logic, Media

Megyn Kelly often uses dubious questioning techniques, when it comes to Donald Trump. In her line of questioning, she’ll often assume facts not in evidence, or, at least, facts the anchor fails to present or elicit. By assuming facts not in evidence, Kelly creates a certain perception about Trump.

For example: When it comes to covering Mr. Trump, the Fox News anchor routinely, again and again, asks her Trump-hating guests questions in this vain:

“You object to Mr. Trump’s sexist language, why is this so important to you?” But she’ll seldom say what precisely are these words she is discussing. (Kelly’s on a personal crusade.)

This is appalling journalism.

I’m surprised her show is still doing well. Fox News head honchos, then, resort to the feminist card in defending her; working mother, blah, blah:

” … an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America” … the network will “continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults.'”
“As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career and the second highest rated show in cable news, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job …”

The Trump camp’s rely:

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks responded Friday evening: “Megyn Kelly is a highly overrated reporter and anchor that constantly disparages Mr. Trump with negative and inaccurate reports. Despite the fact he wants nothing to do with her and will not appear on her show due to her extremely biased reporting, much of the program is about him anyway on a nightly basis.”

Trump has been deeply critical of Kelly since an early GOP debate in which Kelly pressed Trump on his past misogynist statements against women. But he began to re-engage Tuesday night, calling her “crazy” and “the most overrated person” on television.

“Everybody should boycott the @megynkelly show. Never worth watching. Always a hit on Trump! She is sick, & the most overrated person on tv,” he wrote earlier Friday.

UPDATE (3/19):

UPDATE II: Feminized Democrat Debate

Celebrity, Democrats, Elections, Feminism, Gender, Hillary Clinton

The Mouse, Bernie Sanders, scolds The Man, Hillary Clinton, for interrupting him. Mouse says, “Excuse me, I’m talking.” The country erupts in a debate that is deemed way more dignified than the Republican fisticuffs.

Not so. The Dems, two of them, are debating like girls; the Republicans are brawling like boys. That’s all.

And The Girls are fighting over whether Sanders is sexist or not. For example, The Daily Breast (not a typo) protests:

“Its Absurd For Hillary Supporters To Call Bernie Sanders Sexist.”

And it’s absurd for The Daily Breast to spill pixels over the absurdity of this absurd allegation. But The Daily Breast is absurd.

No longer do we even notice how feminized and fussy discourse has become. You need a special manual to make sense of this crap.

Speaking of fussy fools:

Meryl Creep’s True Colors

Celebrity, Film, Hollywood, Race

Meryl Creep offered a whimsical, wacky defense of her prerogative to belong to a group in which her own kind is “over-represented,” a defense the actress would never afford to other, less privileged lily white Americans:

Actress Meryl Streep is indisputably a Hollywood icon, but her recent remarks regarding the lack of racial diversity on the Berlin International Film Festival jury are unlikely to win her many new admirers. The three-time Oscar-winning actress defended the all-white panel on Thursday, allegedly telling reporters: “We are all Africans.”

The seven-member jury, on which Streep is serving, determines the winners of the prestigious Golden Bear and is one of the most celebrated of Europe’s film festivals. In the wake of the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, where the Academy Awards failed to nominate a single actor of color for the second year in a row, Streep was questioned by an Egyptian reporter about the racial make-up of her panel.

“This jury is evidence that at least women are included and in fact dominate this jury, and that’s an unusual situation in bodies of people who make decisions,” Streep said, according to the Associated Press. “So I think the Berlinale is ahead of the game.” The festival jury does include three women in addition to Streep: French photographer Brigitte Lacombe, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher and Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska.

Let the Hollywood house divided devour itself. Or, “Encourage Affirmative OSCARS, So Hollywood Can Go Belly-Up.”

Encourage Affirmative OSCARS, So Hollywood Can Go Belly-Up

Affirmative Action, Celebrity, Economy, Film, Hollywood, Race

Spike Lee, CNN has reported, is calling for quotas or racial set-asides in Hollywood, which is currently being convulsed by the idea that the Oscars are way too white. First, I like the idea of Hollywood’s self-righteousness being turned against its own, being hoisted by their own petard. Excellent. Let the pious pea brains of Hollywood devour each other and become mired in recrimination. I also welcome set asides and quotas for black actors—more of Gabourey Sidibe as the love interest.

Look, if black actors per se were in great demand among the movie-going public, moviemakers would be rushing to recruit them for more roles. It’s called market forces. Cultural arousal patterns are more likely involved. Perhaps strapping electrodes to a white man’s genitals, and shocking him each time Pamela Anderson appears on the screen will turn him on to black actresses for good. Somehow I doubt it. Hormones are politically incorrect. You can take away college placements and Oscars from white guys, but changing cultural and sexual preferences is a lot harder.

In any event, bring it on. If Affirmative OSCARS and racial set asides in film drive the industry into bankruptcy—that can be quite a cultural cleansing. There is so little talent in that cesspool as it is.
