What Women & Minority Majority Transformations Do To Elections

The area “in or near Orange County, the densely-populated suburbs between Los Angeles and San Diego … were once an unassailable Republican fortress.” (“Orange Is The New Purple,” The Economist, Oct 20th 2018.)

“The OC” incubated Barry Goldwater’s conservatism and was home to Richard Nixon. Until 2016, its voters had last backed a Democratic presidential candidate in 1936, when they voted for FDR.

But the fortress has fallen to shifts in the population. Orange County, which used to be the colour of pith, is now minority majority with 34% of its population Hispanic and 21% Asian. Its voter registration reflects the change. It is 35% Republican, 34% Democrat and 27% independent, the definition of a competitive district.

The change that has most salience, though, is the rise in the number of university-educated people, especially women. In four of the five closest-fought districts in the county, graduates make up 28-34% of voters. Fully three-quarters of California’s female college graduates disapprove of Mr Trump (compared with 58% of male graduates and 61% of women who did not graduate). More than two-thirds [said] they [would] vote Democratic.

UPDATED II (1/9/019): The Newly Branded Trump Admin: Out With The Old (John Kelly), In With The Glitzy & The Ditzy

Celebrity, Donald Trump, Economy, Family, Government, Intelligence

Is Jarvanka, the First-Couple-in-Waiting, AKA Ivanka and Jared, senior White House advisers, no less, branding the Trump Administration with their own glitzy, ditzy, anti-Deporable brand?

It sure looks like it.

The most excellent John Kelly, whom the couple have always hated, likely because he is a hardliner who limits their access to Pater–-he is out.

Kelly’s replacement, the 36-year-old Nick Ayers, “has the endorsements of Jared [Kushner], Ivanka [Trump], and Pence, but not a lot of fans beyond that.” Understandable.

Or, perhaps I should I have written, “Out with the Old; in with the Nauert, to hint at the “nomination of former Fox anchor and State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert.”

AGAIN, the deciding factors in the selection of Ms. Nauert, a former “Fox & Friends” host, is that she is “telegenic,” and the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, like her.

Looks like I voted for the Jarvanka agenda without knowing it.

UPDATE (12/15/018):

Free Marketeer Chris Edwards, of CATO, had tried to explain to Laura Ingraham why the Kushners’ Opportunity Zones “Will Help Connected Developers, Not the Poor,” but Fox’s host prefers talking non-stop more than learning important things.

‘Read My Lips: I’ll Build The Wall’

Bush, Donald Trump, Ethics, IMMIGRATION, Politics, Taxation, The State

“Read my lips: no new taxes.”

That pledge was the centerpiece of Bush’s acceptance address, written by speechwriter Peggy Noonan, for his party’s nomination at the 1988 Republican National Convention.

What will President Trump’s political epitaph be?

“Read My Lips: I’ll Build The Wall.”

Amid the slush of sentimentality over the death of George H. Bush, nobody in media made mention of where “W” (shrub Jr.) had been when he bid farewell to his father.

The State, remember, is not The People. The interests the dead pursued, for the most, were not those of ordinary Americans.

Maybe Israel can help?

Ann Coulter Kneecaps Jared Kushner; Here’s Hoping Ivanka’s Next

Ann Coulter, Democrats, Donald Trump, Family, Left-Liberalism And Progressivisim

In the “What Ivanka Wants, Ivanka Gets” (April, 2017), Jared Kushner was described as looking “low T—like he might one day go the way of Bruce Jenner, now Caitlyn Jenner.”

In other words, Kushner looks like he’s transitioning.

Recently, Ann Coulter went one better and called Jared Kushner “THE BIRDBRAIN OF ALCATRAZ,” a moron, and a “a wispy little fellow.”

For that Thanksgiving gift we must be thankful.

However, Jared is second fiddle to Ivanka. The silly woman (Steve Bannon’s assessment) is The Boss. And Ivanka believes—again, in Steve Bannon’s estimation—that she and Jared are First Couple in waiting. She wants to be president.  Or, at least, make it onto the celebrity circuit at Davos.

More than anything, Ivanka and Jared crave respectability. Both have been scarred by the scandals of their fathers. Befitting young Democrats in high society, the Kushners would like to be able to press flesh with local and global elites. There will be none of that—no warm welcomes from the gilded and the glamorous at Davos—with Donald’s unsexy America First agenda.

URGENT: Ivanka needs to be neutralized. Let’s hope Ms. Coulter doesn’t take too long to dispatch Ivanka. Behind every weak, bloodless man there’s a mightily ambitious woman.
