Update II: To Bug Or Not To Bug Abu Zubaydah’s Cage (That’s Not The Question)

Iraq, John McCain, Just War, Neoconservatism, Republicans, Terrorism, The Military

The excerpt is from this week’s column,“To Bug Or Not To Bug Abu Zubaydah’s Cage (That’s Not The Question),” now on Taki’s Magazine:

“…torturing the torture issue has thrown the country off-scent, to the great advantage of the puppet masters.

The torture kerfuffle is secondary to – and subsumed within – the broader category of an unjust war, waged by George Bush with Democratic assent. Talk about a bipartisan effort; a pox on both Houses!

You can make the case for harsh interrogation techniques in desperate, dire circumstances. But how on Earth do you justify lugging an army across the ocean to occupy a third-world country that is no danger to you and has not threatened you? You don’t, and you can’t.

Forgotten in the faff over “enhanced interrogation” tactics is the invasion of Iraq. Of this war crime, most Democrats are as guilty as Republicans. The torture fracas is like manna from heaven for both parties and their media lapdogs, who cannot be coaxed out of a coma.

Whether to bug Zubaydah’s cage or not: This is a limited, small, relatively safe distraction that allows complicit journalists, jurists, politicians and pointy heads to skirt the real issue – the need to prosecute Bush, Cheney, Clinton, Kerry for invading Iraq.”

Read the complete column, “To Bug Or Not To Bug Abu Zubaydah’s Cage (That’s Not The Question).”

Update I (April 24): Some of you have asked about Abu Ghraib. The thesis of the column applies equally to the “GI JOE MEETS GI HO” episode. Get them all on the prosecution of an unjust and illegal war. Incidentally, it goes with out saying that a pox ought to be visited on both Houses—Congress and the Senate.

Update II (April 25): A note to the neoconservatives who frequent this site, and post their ill-formulated fulminations vis-a-vis the war on Iraq: That war is not going to be adjudicated again here, not ever. I chronicled the invasion of Iraq at great length, applying fact and every ounce of reason in my possession to repudiate and denounce that war crime. The case is closed! Neoconservative ideologues stand in the dock for aiding and abetting a war crime. The lazy neoconservative can read my archive on the topic. While I can imagine these ideologues urgently need to make peace with their maker, or consciences, for their role in a crime of such moral and material magnitude, they will not do so on my private property!

Updated: Poster Woman For The Dumbest ‘Republican’

America, Democracy, Intelligence, John McCain, Republicans

I thought Elizabeth Hasselback was dumb. Then came the panelists on Sean Hannity’s “Great American Panel.” And now: enter Meghan McCain.

This creature calls herself a writer. And, to be fair, America has facilitated her hubris. She has written for Newsweek, no less, and now pens a blog for the Daily Beast. McCain’s notion of an argument is, “I, like, disagree with that completely, and think that’s completely crazy.”

McCain’s prominence as a “writer,” rather than as a Paris Hilton-style reality show narcissist, is because 1) her father is famous. 2) This is the Age of the Idiot.

If you’ve read the first few lines of her Daily Beast blog, you’ve read all two rambling pages of it. I wish I had the talent these vapid women evince for saying nothing for pages on end.

The upside of this depression is that the Meghan McCain cohort will become unemployable, except perhaps as hookers (duct tape on the trap is a must).

Writes McCain: “I hope viewers understand Ann Coulter is not the woman we Republicans need representing us right now.” McCain also accused Coulter of anti-Semitism, a silliness I dispatched of here.

She’s hoping to be anointed in Coulter’s place.

The retarded McCain (with apologies to retards) doesn’t grasp that, as shallow as The Queen Bee’s message is, the one-trick Coulter is still sui generis; a master of the syllogism and quick wit.

I can’t wait for Ann to eviscerate mindless Meghan.

I give you the Republican Party’s latest, and perhaps greatest, ditz (could her gracious mother not have taught this young heifer to speak properly? Mrs. McCain is a rather refined, well-spoken, and certainly a strickingly beautiful lady, in that icy, Nordic way):

Update (March 12):MEGHA-HEAD MCCAIN. If I hear the phrase “reach out,” “moderate,” “young people,” or “I feel like,” once again… (fill in the blanks). Here is megha-head McCain again. Huffington Post calls what she does “argue.” MM “argues” that: “the GOP, a party which she ‘loves,’ needs to become more moderate and reach out more, especially to younger voters.”

Damn democracy, wherein I have to be tortured by what such idiots think and “feel,” because they reach so far into my pocket.

A COW IS BORN: Here is MM anointing herself as the Only One; as someone who’s seen “a lot.” Maddow helps establish this useful idiot as a person with a frontal lobe. MM brays: “I love being open (I bet), I’m so different, I’ve seen A LOT [said in those staccato tart tones]. I twitter. [I’m a twit.] It’s like weird. I don’t completely understand econ; I keep reading, I just don’t understand it… I only write what I know about.” [Which is why she writes so much about so little.]

Hurry up, Ann Coulter, and put us out of our misery; finish MM off already.

Update II: The Obama Presidency: Hamiltonian Curse, Marxist Mess, Or Both? (Part I)

Barack Obama, Classical Liberalism, Federal Reserve Bank, History, John McCain, Political Philosophy, Ron Paul

On WND.com, “Obama Presidency: Hamiltonian Curse or Marxist Mess?”:

I interview my good friend Thomas J. DiLorenzo about his new book, Hamilton’s Curse: How Jefferson’s Archenemy Betrayed the American Revolution—and What It Means for America Today, with relevance to the events of the day.

Tom DiLorenzo is professor of economics at Loyola College in Maryland, and the author of The Real Lincoln, Lincoln Unmasked, and How Capitalism Saved America.

Update: Says professor DiLorenzo:

“We are a nation of tax slaves for the benefit of our masters on the Washington, D.C. plantation. …”

AND:

“Whenever you hear the phrase ‘living Constitution’ [which you’ll hear a great deal from president elect Obama], just substitute the word ‘no’ for ‘living,’ and you’ll understand what it means.”

Be sure to follow up with part II of our conversation on IlanaMercer.com.

Update II: Part I of the interview is playing it again on WND:

Updated: Insane McCain (Part II)

Constitution, Elections 2008, John McCain, Liberty

Stumpy arms moving rapidly and rigidly up and down, McCain can be heard these day shouting the following mantra in that deranged monotone: “Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight! America is worth fighting for…fight, fight fight…”

What is he fulminating about? Senile git.

I understand those who say they will vote for McCain because he’s somehow more palatable than the radical Obama. But those who’ve begun to see in McCain a man who knows something about the Constitution and the limits of government are worse than Panglossian.

McCain has been among the worse offenders against liberty and the Constitution.

In a sense, McCain is more dishonest than Obama, who has a Constitutional philosophy he does not hide. Obama believes in sundering the Founders’ Constitution by means of the living-constitution doctrine.

McCain, whose idols are Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, doesn’t believe in the Constitution at all, although he claims to be an original intent or strict constructionist.

I recommend Matt Walsh’s piece “Be Afraid of President McCain,” as it addresses McCain’s philosophy of government. Barry Goldwater’s dislike for McCain is especially telling:

McCain is at his most unintentionally revealing when writing about his Republican predecessor in the Senate, Barry Goldwater. “I really don’t think he liked me much,” he wrote in Worth the Fighting For. “I don’t know why that was.…He was usually cordial, just never as affectionate as I would have liked.”
That it never occurred to McCain why a libertarian Westerner might keep a “national greatness” conservative and D.C.-bred carpetbagger at arm’s length is both touching and deeply worrisome. Does he not understand that there are at least some people in American life who take liberty as seriously as McCain takes his notions of national duty? Judging by a comment he made recently on the Don Imus radio show, the answer seems to be no. Defending campaign finance reform, McCain said, “I would rather have a clean government than one…where ‘First Amendment rights’ are being respected that has become corrupt. If I had my choice I’d rather have a clean government.

Insane McCain (Part I)

Update (November 4): McCain AGAIN today: “fight for America, fight for this country, America is worth fighting for… I choose to fight; fight, fight, fight, fight.”

Definitely “borderline senile.”
