Like The Left, Left-Libertarians Weaponize The ‘Nativist’ Pejorative

Constitution, IMMIGRATION, Left-Liberalism And Progressivisim, libertarianism, Race, South-Africa, Welfare

Et tu John Stossel? Austin Petersen? On the latest John Stossel Show (whose website seldom carries any contents-driven updates or transcripts, too unhip), the pejorative “nativist” is being bandied about to malign the concept of borders in a welfare state, where welfare is a magnet. Due to open-borders immigration central planning, America, as I’ve warned in Into the Cannibal’s Pot, is headed to dominant-party status like my native South Africa. But left-libertarians wish to do away with borders before private property has been reinstated as the governing principle in American society.

Anathema, too, to left-libertarians is the idea that liberty has a cultural and historical context—it is not a proposition or a mere idea easily assimilated by all. Hell, look at Bernie Sanders’ platform and its many American supporters! Do we need to import more Bernie voters?!

Check out my homeland South Africa, RIP, where the minority had imagined the black majority would be bound by the same political abstractions—that fellow black South Africans would relinquish race as an organizing principle, in favor of a constitutional design, because hey, that just how people are. It’s second nature.

Didn’t happen. Won’t happen.

In the left-libertarian universe, the perspective of someone like myself is discounted by fast-talking youngsters who’ve yet to be mugged by reality and human nature.

Trevor Noah: An Anglo-American South African Sans Talent (Ditto John Oliver)

Art, Britain, Multiculturalism, South-Africa

What I mean by describing The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah as an Anglo-American South African will be understood by South Africans like my friend, Dan Roodt, who knows and values the South African culture that was in all its facets.

Except for a residual accent Noah has clearly worked to lose, there is nothing South African about this guy. Or maybe this is the face of the new South Africa?

The young, photogenic Noah clearly spent his formative years watching American TV and striving to clone those he was watching. To us older South Africans who remember the unique humor of our country’s people, it’s sad.

To hone a sense of humor, the guy should have been seeking out old tapes of the Bangers and Boerewors skits (so old; there is no trace of them on the WWW). I’d take a few Van der Merwe jokes, too; those are so part of our culture (the year 1661 is when “Willem Schalk Van der Merwe set foot on the shores of Table Bay”).

One of my favorite Van der Merwe jokes:

Van der Merwe is working as a server or waiter. His English customer asks if he serves wild duck.

Van der Merwe replies: Duck is not wild, but I can make him “stroppy” for you.

“Stroppy” in the local lingo means unruly, hard to deal with, badly disposed.

I no longer watch TDS, but from the jokes Noah is reported to have told—the guys is so unfunny, it’s hard to see how he’ll last.

Another unfunny foreigner introduced by The Daily Show is Englishman John Oliver. Bloody awful. No wonder Oliver left a country known for its acerbic humor, Britain, to come here. He had no future as a funny man back home.

‘Purging America’s Heroes’

America, Founding Fathers, History, Nationhood, South-Africa

My book, “Into The Cannibal’s Pot,” warned that just as Saint Mandela’s ANC purged South Africa’s founders (Boers and Britons) from public life—so, too, would America’s Founding Fathers be consigned by similar forces to the dustbin of history.

To wit, an excerpt from “Tot Siens (Farewell) To The Taal (The Language),” Chapter 2 of “Into The Cannibal’s Pot”:

“He who controls the past controls the future.” So wrote Orwell in Nineteen Eighty-Four. The ANC now commands past, present and future. … It may be a trifling issue to deracinated sophisticates, but landmarks in the country’s founding history are slowly being erased, as demonstrated by the ANC’s decision to give an African name to Potchefstroom, a town founded in 1838 by the Voortrekkers. Pretoria is now officially called Tshwane. Nelspruit, founded by the Nel Family (they were not Xhosa), and once the seat of the South African Republic’s government during the Boer War, has been renamed Mbombela. Polokwane was formerly Pietersburg. Durban’s Moore Road (after Sir John Moore, the hero of the Battle of Corunna, fought in 1809 during the Napoleonic Wars) is Che Guevara Road; Kensington Drive, Fidel Castro Drive. Perhaps the ultimate in tastelessly hip nomenclature is Yasser Arafat Highway, down which the motorist can careen on the way to the Durban airport. …

Patrick J. Buchanan, who just gets better with age, on “Purging America’s Heroes”:

… All were white males. All achieved greatly. All believed that the people whence they came were superior and possessed of a superior faith, Christianity, and hence fit to rule what Rudyard Kipling called the “lesser breeds without the Law.”

Acting on a belief in their racial, religious and cultural superiority, they created the greatest nation on earth. And people who got in their way were shoved aside, subjugated, repressed and ruled.

As for the Confederates of the Lost Cause, they yielded to superior force only after four years of fighting, but their battle flag has ever after been seen as a banner of rebellion, bravery and defiance.

And those tearing down the battle flags, and dumping over the monuments and statues, and sandblasting the names off buildings and schools, what have they ever accomplished?

They inherited the America these men built, but are ashamed at how it was built. And now they watch paralyzed as the peoples of the Third World, whom their grandfathers ruled, come to dispossess them of the patrimony for which they feel so guilty.

The new barbarians will make short work of them.

I depart from Pat on the matter of William Tecumseh Sherman. What’s his claim to greatness? Waging Total War on the South and on the Plains Indians? Corralling what remained of them onto reservations?

Take down any graven image of Gen. William Sherman. I’m fine with that.

Old South-African Flag Not Nazi Insignia

GUNS, Pseudo-history, Racism, South-Africa, Terrorism

In the aftermath of the Charleston church massacre, US “news” media have been depicting the Old South African and Rhodesian flags as some kind of Nazi insignia, their display always and everywhere a predictor of a disturbed mind. Dr. Dan Roodt, director of PRAAG, for Afrikaner activism, sends this corrective comment:

“The orange, white and blue flag is based on the original European republican flag: It was first hoisted in 1572, after the first Dutch town called Den Briel was liberated from the Spanish Empire. To this day, and in homage to that flag, most European countries, including the Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, etc., all have tricolor flags. Are they then all “white-supremacist” flags?

The orange, white and blue flag was used by the South African Army in World War II when we fought on the Allied side against Nazi Germany. Ian Smith, who later adopted the Rhodesian flag together with the last movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony as its national anthem, was a fighter pilot for Britain during the Second World War. Both South Africa and Rhodesia fought valiantly against Soviet- and Chinese-supported terrorist movements. The policy they practiced towards their black populations, while controversial, was distorted many fold by Marxist intellectuals and left-wing media types.

The Christian and humane principles on which both the old South Africa and Rhodesia were founded, prohibited any form of ethnic massacre. In fact, during Afrikaner history we were mostly the victims of such massacres by either foreigners of other ethnic groups, so we understand the pain and suffering associated with such mass killings.

My immediate reaction was to associate Dylann Roof’s actions with the acts of ANC or PAC terrorists committed in our country, such as the cowardly massacre of church-goers at the St. James Church in Cape Town on 25 July 1993, when the Azanian People’s Liberation Army or APLA burst into the church during a service with automatic weapons and massacred 11 people. If a member of the congregation, Charl van Wyk, had not returned fire with his .38 Special, many more people would have died.

We have a proud military tradition, associated with our flag. We have always abided by the Geneva Conventions. Unlike our enemies who practiced terror against us and who still attack our own civilians on farms and in our homes, we would never think of attacking civilians, let alone in a church while praying to God.”
