Affirmative Action, Barack Obama, Business, Gender, Individual Rights, Private Property, Race

One can only hope that the Obama Administration’s commitment to further curtail freedom of contract, speech, and religion; and the already severely delimited right to associate and dissociate at will–that these go the way of his tax hikes on those who’ve accrued more riches than others. (The update consists of links to the better perspective.)

Since my wish is not His command, please apprise yourselves of what’s ahead. Read through Obama’s “Civil Rights” program (I’ve posted half of it). I do, however, support his efforts to reduce drug-use prosecutions, but not through coerced “treatment”:

* Combat Employment Discrimination: President Obama and Vice President Biden will work to overturn the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that curtails racial minorities’ and women’s ability to challenge pay discrimination. They will also pass the Fair Pay Act, to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work, and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
* Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: President Obama and Vice President Biden will strengthen federal hate crimes legislation, expand hate crimes protection by passing the Matthew Shepard Act, and reinvigorate enforcement at the Department of Justice’s Criminal Section.
* End Deceptive Voting Practices: President Obama will sign into law his legislation that establishes harsh penalties for those who have engaged in voter fraud and provides voters who have been misinformed with accurate and full information so they can vote.
* End Racial Profiling: President Obama and Vice President Biden will ban racial profiling by federal law enforcement agencies and provide federal incentives to state and local police departments to prohibit the practice.
* Reduce Crime Recidivism by Providing Ex-Offender Support: President Obama and Vice President Biden will provide job training, substance abuse and mental health counseling to ex-offenders, so that they are successfully re-integrated into society. Obama and Biden will also create a prison-to-work incentive program to improve ex-offender employment and job retention rates.
* Eliminate Sentencing Disparities: President Obama and Vice President Biden believe the disparity between sentencing crack and powder-based cocaine is wrong and should be completely eliminated.
* Expand Use of Drug Courts: President Obama and Vice President Biden will give first-time, non-violent offenders a chance to serve their sentence, where appropriate, in the type of drug rehabilitation programs that have proven to work better than a prison term in changing bad behavior.

Updated: The Hue of Hatred II

Crime, Race, Racism

The face of hate:

The object of hate:

The details of the crime indicate, very plainly, that the murderer wanted to obliterate his victim, make her exist no longer.

Update (Dec. 2): Actually, to correct the comment hereunder, I’ve documented quite clearly, as have others well before me, that violent crime in the US and South Africa is monopolized by blacks. The intention of the title was to point to the near-complete unidirectionality of violent crime: black on white. Both in my new and former homelands.

Were Americans not so brainwashed about hate crimes originating exclusively with Europeans, they might stop to think about who’s killing whom. (Here’s “The Hue Of Hatred I”.) Perhaps they’ll even quit packing their kids off to Africa, and other high-crime localities, for an enriching experience; but that’s a bit much to ask of the reckless locals.

As I pointed out once, “Dangling a noose—an impolite and impolitic form of expression—is a hate crime; a black man beating a white man to a pulp—not so much. Being maimed or murdered, evidently, doesn’t compare to being maligned.” Americans have difficulties “differentiating a felony from an affront to feelings.”

As to a cop kicking an offender who happens to be black: the forgone conclusion is always that racism is at play. I’ve protested police brutality in many a column (the last being “Don’t Tase Me, Big Bro“). But the fact is that blacks are disproportionately represented among the criminal class. (To stay alive, and in business, cabbies act on this information daily.)

A policeman aggressing against an offender might amount to an excessive use of force, but why join the racial terrorists (the ones that went after Imus) by shouting racism?

‘Diversity: The Mating Call Of The Contemporary Academic Bureaucrat’

Affirmative Action, Left-Liberalism And Progressivisim, Multiculturalism, Propaganda, Race, Socialism

Edgar Allan Poe’s “The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether” tells of inmates in an asylum who overpower their wardens, tar and feather them, throw them into underground cells, and proceed to have “a jolly season of it” without them. After reading what follows, you have to wonder: What are we waiting for?

Writes Tom DiLorenzo:

“The [Cultural Marxists] have taken over the hiring process, instructing academic departments to merely provide them with unranked lists of acceptable candidates for interviews. They will then choose which candidates are invited for campus interviews after a proper, politically-correct vetting process. We have been told to ignore whether or not a candidate’s research interests are similar to others in the department. Scientific synergy, like everything else, plays second fiddle to achieving the correct conglomeration of skin colors on campus. …

Atheists, communists, and abortion activists are all welcomed at Loyola College, but there is one category that is not: defenders of capitalism – the system that allows the parents of Loyola College students to accumulate enough wealth to pay those hefty tuition bills every year, and which provides the means of success for the College’s non-stop fund-raising drives. Defenders of capitalism may exist on campus, but it is clear that such views are not welcomed or appreciated.”

Tales From an Academic Looney Bin” is a must read, as is “A (Not So) Funny Thing Happened To Me in Baltimore” by Walter Block.
