If Amy Cooter wishes to follow a real hate group, she should embed with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Cooter spent protracted time with a cross-section of the country’s maligned militias, for a PhD. in sociology, I presume. As hard as the Egg Head from CNN tried to extract from her the line the Southern Poverty Law Center peddles about many patriotic Americans, he came away empty handed (and headed).

Although talker Monica Crowley has blamed Obama for the Missouri State police report entitled “The Modern Militia Movement,” and dated February 20, 2009 (it warned about subversives like … me), I believe it was initiated in the Bush era. Once again, here too, there is no difference between the Republicans, when in power, and the Dems in their statist collaboration to defame the best of America.

Update (March 31): Peter Brimelow:

And the “Hutaree militia”? I’m now old and scarred enough to say openly what as an MSM editor I would merely have cunningly proposed as an interesting hypothesis to some energetic young reporter: I don’t believe it. I don’t believe that any group of white blue collar workers would naturally want to attack the local police, another blue collar group.

I think, as Richard Hoste has argued, that it’s far more likely to turn out to be a case of entrapment by some ambitious prosecutor trying to please his/her political masters.

Egg head is a very good description. His head is literally an egg.

I am in total agreement regarding the SPLC, which appears to exist primarily for the purpose of encouraging the police to harass people who have political views that make the usual suspects uncomfortable.

Isn’t it funny how the same folks who will prattle on for hours about Bin Laden’s grievances, or the plight of the so-called Palestinians, will never apply the “old grievances” approach to their fellow countrymen? This sort of thing does not happen in a vacuum. This blog is one of the few places where this matter is discussed honestly, and I appreciate that.

The MIAC report story is complicated, and I freely admit that I do not know all the details about it. It has SPLC fingerprints all over it, just from its rhetorical content. Chuck Baldwin is an excellent source on the matter. VDARE and Lew Rockwell also have a lot of information on it. The latter two are, of course, considered hate groups by the SPLC. Then again, so is AEI. You can’t make this stuff up.

I like how (as you said) egghead tries to lead her, twice, into saying that militias are made up of fanatics. He even allowed himself an effete little “Yeah?” of frustration after being shot down the second time. If egghead wants to see a fanatic, he need only look in the mirror during this daily depilation.

From what I’ve read, the Hutaree are an apocalyptic religious cult that happens to be armed, not a militia as we would normally think of one. Naturally, the media has found a piece of meat it enjoys gnawing.

Militias, good or bad, are there for a reason. When the citizens, benign or militant, had confidence that the government was governing in their best interest there were no militias. It has been obvious for many years now that said government is governing for many reasons but the good of the country is not one of them.

Harper’s Magazine’s Ken Silverstein, and some ten years later The Nation’s Akexander Cockburn vivisected Mo Dees, confirming the original findings; what Mo was most opposed to was poverty, his own, and the easiest way to separate a leftist from his money is scare the bejeezus out of him with stories of nightriders.

Meanwhile in the real world, The FBI and DEA tear through a Hispanic gang, Barrio Azteca, and arrest numerous members in regard to the very real deaths of three people dear to the Feds. The Hispanics publicly state their intentions to kill law enforcement officers, (read El Paso, Texas Police officers; they are the ones exposed on the street) but the news only talks about some supposedly delusional White Christians. “http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2010/03/el_paso_area_la.php”

I expected that the FBI had used an ‘agent provocateur” in the investigation. It’s standard operating procedure. Something they learned from the drug wars described as, “Why do ten, when you’ve got a friend?” Get someone into a group you think make good targets, have them set up the group. The FBI have been doing this for years. Randy Weaver was a failed attempt to infiltrate a group in Idaho, but Pro-Libertate has an article about infiltrating Neo-Nazis. “http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2009/12/prefabricated-fascists-fbis-assembly.html” The provocateur normally is the same one that ‘makes the incriminating evidence to boot.” Which always makes me question who told him to make the bomb? I think they did the same thing a couple of months ago in New York with some Muslims. None the less, here comes the same old standard story about how they “Infiltrated” this group. “http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100331/ap_on_re_us/us_fbi_raids”

So much for CNN’s “objective journalism”. Amy (who is quite cute) did not fall for his “anyone who dislikes big government is a violent nutcase” theme.

Andrei Sakharov and other dissidents were accused of “anti-Soviet agitation” and the Chinese dissidents have similar accusations thrown at them. Now we have the frenzied attempt to smear militias, Tea Parties, or anyone who dislikes the Welfare-Warfare Leviathan with the same broad brush. Undoubtedly, when there are several million people opposing Obama et al, one can find some wackos in any movement. But the basic theme is that the “right wing” dissent is racist, violent, and psychotic. Some of this goes back to Hofstadter’s 1964 “Paranoid Style in American Politics” ,the smear campaign against Goldwater, and various purges by Buckley of “disrespectable” conservatives. Rest assured that any act of violence associated with the “right wing” will be exaggerated and overreported and be made to appear as typical. C’est la vie.

I was favorably impressed with Amy’s argument from her facts, but not by her interlocutor’s attempts to lead. Look at the screen: “They want a revolution” is the network’s bottom line, but not Amy’s, if you listen to the clip.

She stood her ground but they redrew it, in the manner they desired. Who can trust TV?

This thing stinks to high heaven of provocateur action. The timing is convenient, to say the least.

The test balloon was flown over our heads and it sailed by without a whimper. I refer you to the Waco massacre, where propaganda dehumanizing religious zealots was accepted without comment by the public as justification for burning ‘religious nuts’ with their children. Using military assets to murder, based on a lie about a drug lab. Check out the infrared video and decide for yourself whether those people were shot trying to escape the fire, starting at 49 minutes into the video:

The apathy of the ‘man on the street’ was, and still is, appalling. The lesson is; you could be the next one to be made an example of. You don’t even have to actually do anything to be declared guilty of sedition, and the press will cheerlead.
