Update (Jan. 13): Not all men are macho; that’s both true and fine.

The reference in my article was more to a mindset that is male in an absolute, unadulterated way. A mindset that is being slowly educated and medicated out of existence. Does this mindset often correlate with secondary characteristics such as a deep voice and a swagger? Indeed it does.

Is manliness mediated by hormonal/physiological realities? Damn straight it is.

The waning of manliness has coincided with reported lower testosterone levels in younger men. Correlation is not causation. Still, men, through no fault of their own, are being feminized, shaped socially to be more like girls: sensitive, emotional, irrational, feeling, cooperative, not competitive. If they reject this designation, they may be diagnosed with ADHD (at the behest of a female teacher, as most teachers are) and medicated.

The assault on manhood as we know it continues throughout a man’s career (don’t flirt, don’t flatter, walk softly, tread lightly, give a group hug, learn anger management, celebrate diversity), and permeates societal institutions—media, the workplace.

Young men who wake up one day and find that my description of the Man in the Supermarket is them—they aren’t to blame. A regulatory society that bans “bang-bang you’re dead,” and forces boys to hack their way through a page-turner like One Dad Two Dads Brown Dad Blue Dads, rather than The Dangerous Book For Boys: that’s what has happened to men.

The editors of the left-liberal NEWSWEEK are congratulating themselves for “accepting” and then “thinking clearly ” about the America of 2009 becoming a more socialist country. What Golda Meir once said to someone who needed a poke in the eye applies: “Don’t be so modest, you’re not that great.”

I was under the distinct impression that Newsweek’s agitprop actively helped change hearts and minds so as to bring about the “shift that began not under a Democrat but a Republican … a trend that began under President Bush, not President Obama.” At least that last fact our agitpropists got right.

Arizona: Where Property Rights Go To Die

For at least a decade, they’ve been littering his Arizona ranch with “trash 10 inches deep, including human waste, used toilet paper, soiled diapers, cigarette packs, clothes, backpacks, empty 1-gallon water bottles, chewing-gum wrappers and aluminum foil – which supposedly is used to pack drugs.”

Of late, rancher Roger Barnett’s property, northeast of Douglas, along Arizona Highway 80, has been vandalized by illegal aliens, who “tore up water pumps, killed calves, destroyed fences and gates, stole trucks and broke into his home.”

But at last justice. With the aid of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the aggressors are suing Barnett for trying to evict them from his land with excessive insensitively. What’s more, U.S. District Judge John Roll agreed to hear the case–and has ruled that there was “sufficient evidence to allow the matter to be presented to a jury.”
