The CBOafs On Delaying The individual Insurance Mandate

Barack Obama, Debt, Healthcare

The CBOafs (The Congressional Budget Oafs) always grossly underestimate the costs to the private, productive economy of government programs. This is their mandate.

“On July 17, 2013, the House of Representatives passed ‘H.R. 2668: An act to delay the application of the individual health insurance mandate, to delay the application of the employer health insurance mandate, and for other purposes.'”

H.R. 2668 would delay the implementation of several provisions related to the expansion of health insurance coverage established by the Affordable Care Act (ACA, Public Law 111-148 and the health care provisions of P.L. 111-152). Title I of H.R. 2668 would delay for one year the requirement that most residents of the United States have health insurance coverage by January 1, 2014. Title I also would shift by one year the schedule of penalties for people who do not comply with that mandate. In addition, title II of the legislation would delay for one year the imposition of penalties for certain large employers that do not offer health insurance coverage that meets the affordability standard defined in the ACA and two reporting requirements for certain large employers and health insurance coverage providers.

Just imagine the real savings generated by any delay of Health-Scare, if,

They CBO and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) estimate that enacting H.R. 2668 would reduce federal deficits by roughly $36 billion over the 2014-2018 period and by roughly $35 billion over the 2014-20 23 period. Those budgetary effects would result entirely from title I. Title II would not affect direct spending or revenues since it essentially codifies changes announced by the Administration and subsequently incorporated into CBO’s baseline.

About a repeal of Obamacare we can only dream.

Another Case Of Workplace Violence In Military (Yeah, Right!)

Barack Obama, GUNS, Homeland Security, Military, Propaganda

Barack Obama calls the Navy Yard shooting in the capital, today, “another mass shooting … on a military installation in our nation’s capital. It’s a shooting that targeted our military and civilian personnel.” It goes without saying that all those who’re part of the massive welfare system that is the US military—entire families are “enlisted” on the country’s payroll—are, in the president’s words, “patriots,” “protecting all of us”:

They know the the dangers of serving abroad, but today they faced the unimaginable violence that they wouldn’t have expected here at home.

In reply to a gun-control question, this dreadful cur of a man found the presence of mind to quip: “[We will] be investigating thoroughly what happened—as we do so many of these shootings sadly that have happened and do everything we can to try to prevent them.”

Note that the “Silent Conspirators in the Case Of Major Nidal Malik Hasan” are still at large. (Hint: Look at the role played by policy makers as well as that of the top brass of the US military.)

Nothing is likely to change on that front.

Liberals Grow A Funny Bone

Liberals are especially slow on the uptake. Some outside CNN amd MSNBC, however, have begun to cock a snook at the Obama faithful who fawn over His every utterance and action.

Transcribed by News Busters, this video clip is worth watching (from an evolutionary perspective). “Liberals parodying liberals” is how Mark Levin described it:

Text courtesy of News Busters:

“Our president can’t launch into another war without you. And remember: when we voted for him in 2008 and 2012, we promised to support him no matter what.”

“That’s why we here at the ‘Americans for Whatever Barack Obama Wants, Did You Know He’s Friends With Jay-Z?’ have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund World War III.”

“And America is dead-ass broke, so our goal is to raise $1.6 trillion on behalf of the U.S. government.”

“That’s where you come in.”

“Even a small donation will make all the difference.”

“World War III is a very important, very progressive war that Obama tells me is very important. So it must be.”

“When I first saw the President speak in 2008 in a YouTube clip posted to my Facebook page, I knew he was going to be right all the time. So I support World War III, and IV, and any moon war the President may want to start.”

“I mean, there is no way that he or the cabal of corporate interests, spy agencies, and shadow bankers who tell him what to do would ever mislead us.”

“The $1.6 trillion that we raise will help create a war that truly puts the liberal in neo-liberal. There will be millions of troops, thousands of organic, grass-fed bombs, hybrid Prius tanks, rockets controlled by iPads, and drones that play the Lumineers while they attack.”

“World War III is not going to be like those other Republican wars fought on just 1 percent of the world. This war is going to be fought on 99 percent of the world.”

“It will be everywhere: Russia, China, Africa, Cincinnati, your favorite brunch spot — the one with those kickass ranchero breakfast burritos.”

“World War III will also be the most social media-focused war ever. It’ll be all over Twitter, Facebook, Vine, Pinterest, and whatever eventually replaces Pinterest, and I mean, just think of all the hilarious skits we can make of cats reacting to their owners’ homes being obliterated.”

“Lots of shock, but tons of awww.”

“And come on, guys, how good will Michelle’s arms look in sleeveless Army fatigues?”

“We have a lot of great rewards for our donors. If you donate $10 to the World War III project, you’ll get a shout out on social media.”

“Hashtag #thankyou!”

“A $25 donation will get you a piece of rubble from a war-torn Middle Eastern country, kissed by Sen. Lindsay Graham.”

“A $100 donation gets you a day pass to leave your local refuge camp.”

“You’ll probably end up in a refuge camp, but it’ll have free Wifi.”

“And a $10 million donation gets you your own Senator for a year.”

“So please, help us reach our goal of $1.6 trillion so we can make World War III a reality. Why? Because Obama.”

“Because Obama.”

UPDATE II: His Highness’s Collateral Damage

Barack Obama, Foreign Policy, Iraq, Just War, libertarianism, Middle East, Neoconservatism, Republicans

“… And if you’re so dead-set against the killing of children that you are willing to send us into yet another conflict, will you guarantee that the 1000-pound Tomahawk missiles that you will heap on Syria won’t kill children—or are they simply your collateral damage?”

These powerful words were delivered by Judge Jeanine (written, no doubt, by her show’s writers), five minutes and 28 seconds into her weekly Opening Statement.

Judge Jeanine was speaking about the thing no Republican cared about during Iraq: collateral damage.

Let us hope that this wonderful, country wide awakening is no brief jaunt, but a return to an America-First, do-no-harm foreign policy.

UPDATED I (9/8): And “Will the murders of those children be less significant than those we go to avenge?” I failed to transcribe Jeanine’s last clincher. This is the sort of sharp logic missing from most tele-commentary.

UPDATE II: In reply to the thread on Facebook: Other than as an economist, Thomas Sowell is unpersuasive. No serious libertarian should take him seriously on issues of just war. Sowell was full-throttle for the war against Iraq.
