UPDATE II (12/15/018): Ambassador Richard Grenell Sets The Immigration Debate Back On Tucker’s Show

Conservatism, Europe, Homeland Security, IMMIGRATION, Nationhood

There wasn’t a plan. There was no Plan. It wasn’t implemented with a Plan.

Over and over did U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell repeat those words, on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show. His goal was clearly to reinforce the long-held safe position on immigration into the West. So long as it’s legal and there’s A Plan, it’s all good.

The only problem Grenell sees with Angela Merkel’s opening Germany to the influx of 1 million Muslims from North Africa and the Middle East was that … there was no plan, whatever that means. The implication: were there a plan, whatever that means, there would be no issue.

But there was A Plan. The Plan was to import 1 million Muslims and teach the German people about values à la Brussels.

Richard Grenell, no different to Rush Limbaugh, in his stated opinion about immigration, has a plan to stay on the side of the angels. Continue to support the influx of 2 million immigrants into the US, annually, since they are legal. Legal immigration will not change the country in bad ways; only the illegal variety does this.

Yes, that’s an unbelievably dumb position. I know.

The exclusive emphasis on border security and legality in the immigration debate is the conservative scoundrel’s bid for respectability.

Open-border advocates are helped immeasurably by the Grenells of this world. Everyone (and his dog) currently concurs that we have no problem with legal immigration, only with the illegal variety. It’s now mandatory to pair an objection to the invasion of the American Southwest with an embrace of all forms of legal immigration. The sole emphasis on border security has, in all likelihood, entrenched the status quo. Americans will never assert their right to determine the nature of the country they live in and, by extension, the kind of immigrants they welcome. The security risk newcomers pose and The Plan to absorb them are the only permissible topics for conversation.

You have to have a Plan, a heart, remain open to lots of immigrants. So long as they’re legal. That’s the safe position.

Tucker Carlson’s position, when he sticks to it, has been that a country is allowed to determine who lives in it and whether it needs a break from the incessant influx because, hey, diversity is killing us as a people.

UPDATE I:

How does Grenell propose to deal with the hate crimes against little German children at school, from aggressive, empowered Arab kids, whose culture is comfortable with such displays of power? What’s the Plan?

Breitbart’s Allum Bokhari Steps Into The Anti-State Void Opened Up On The Organized* Right

Conservatism, Criminal Injustice, Donald Trump, Free Speech, Intelligence, The State, The West

With his piece, “The Rise Of The Western Dissidents,” Breitbart’s Allum Bokhari steps into the anti-state void opened up on the right, and openly and honestly fingers western governments—the Trump Administration, included—in creating their own imperiled dissidents.

It’s a disgrace. (See my “Assange Is Us”)

those who rightly believe the west is superior to authoritarian regimes must now contend with a troubling trend — the rise of the western dissident.

Chief among them is Julian Assange, who for a half-decade has been forced to live in the tiny Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has claimed political asylum since 2011. Assange claimed that he would be extradited to the U.S. to face charges over his work at WikiLeaks if he left the embassy, and was routinely mocked as paranoid for doing so.

This week, we learned that Assange was right and his critics were wrong. …

Thanks to a clerical error by the U.S. attorney’s office in Alexandria, Virginia, reporters were able to confirm the existence of sealed criminal charges against the WikiLeaks founder. …

WikiLeaks behaved precisely as any responsible publisher handling sensitive material should, redacting information that could cause harm. The redactions only stopped when they became pointless. Assange is unlikely to have won more than a dozen journalism awards if he were completely reckless in his publications. …

…the only reason Assange is being targeted is that he tangled with the highest levels of the western establishment. In that, he is far from alone.

In the late 2000s to early 2010s, western governments targeted all manner of individuals associated with Assange and the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, including Laura Poitras, Glenn Greenwald’s partner David Miranda, and The Guardian newspaper.

These days, however, a new class of western dissident has emerged — the populist dissident.

Who would have thought that the highest court in Europe, home of the enlightenment, would uphold a case in which a woman was prosecuted for blasphemy against Islam?

Who would have thought that Britain, the birthplace of liberalism and the free press, would ban an independent journalist from its shores for satirizing the same religion?

Who would have thought that Germany, whose living memory of the totalitarian Stasi is just three decades old, would put its largest opposition party under surveillance …

UPDATED (10/10/018): ‘Conservatives’ & Classical Liberals Can’t Help Contradicting Themselves

Classical Liberalism, Conservatism, Individualism Vs. Collectivism, Paleolibertarianism, Political Philosophy, Race, Racism, Reason, Secession

Trying to play nice politically can result in a very confused message. Paul Joseph Watson of Prison Planet (he works with Alex Jones and InfoWars) has a list of what he’s for and against–a list intended to make him sound like a middle-of-the-road classical liberal.

Check out his list and tell me this: What about the right of ethnics to voluntarily form a collective? Classical liberalism is not in contradiction to nationalism (see David Conway’s work in this regard). Mr. Watson’s politically pleasing logic, below, makes difficult a vital, peaceful secessionist project like the Afrikaner Orania Movement, for instance.

Now, Can America Have A Nation-State Bill Like Israel’s? Neocons Will Be 1st To Say ‘No’

Conservatism, Israel, Law, Nationhood, Neoconservatism, Paleoconservatism, Paleolibertarianism

Among the planks of [Israel’s controversial Nation-State] legislation:

‘Hatikva’ is Israel’s national anthem. Hebrew is its official language. Jerusalem, ‘complete and united,’ is its capital. The flag and menorah its official symbols. The Sabbath its day of rest (with non-Jews having their own days of rest). Israel is open to Jewish immigration. Above all, ‘The right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.’

The likes of Ben Shapiro and Dinesh D’Souza will be first to object to the US having a Nation-State Bill Like Israel’s, likely on the ground that America is somehow not like Israel.

They’ll come up with some creative cuckservative excuses, in flowery prose, for why the US has to embrace a  move toward a majority-minority “nation” united by NOTHING.

That’s how you tell—how you differentiate—an Israel Firster neocon from an authentic conservative, aka a paleoconservative or paleoliberarian.
