Beware The Values Cudgel

Conservatism, Government, IMMIGRATION, Individualism Vs. Collectivism, Islam, Liberty, Paleolibertarianism, Political Philosophy, Politics

“Beware The Values Cudgel” is the current column, now on The Daily Caller (founded by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson). An Excerpt:

… When you hear an appeal to “permanent values”—”the values that make our country great,” to quote Hillary Clinton—know you are dealing with world-class crooks. These crooks want to swindle you out of the freedom to think and believe as you wish. For in the classical conservative and libertarian traditions, values are private things, to be left to civil society—the individual, family and church—to practice and police.

The American government is charged purely with upholding the law, no more. Why so? Because government has police and military powers with which to enforce its “values.” A free people dare not entrust such an omnipotent entity with policing values, at home or abroad, because values enforced are dogma.

When incontestable majorities call on government to curb Islamic and other in-migration because this imperils American lives, President Trump’s unswerving opponents—the Obama, Clinton, Ryan, McCain, Graham, Schumer and media mafia—will invariably intone, “That’s not who we are.”

When you hear that manipulative mantra, tell them to shut up, mind their own business, and stick to their constitutional mandate to protect the people, not police their minds.

Remember that through an appeal to values, the State aggrandizes itself.

A limited government, serving an ostensibly free people, must thus never enforce values. …

UPDATED (2/4): Centralized Judicial Tyranny: Bush-Era Judge (& Tech Execs) Moves Against Trump Immigration Order

Bush, Business, Donald Trump, Homeland Security, IMMIGRATION, Justice, Law, Left-Liberalism And Progressivisim, Technology

A George-Bush era judge acts against the wishes of the president, as expressed in an Executive Order, no less, and the 61,900,651 who voted for Donald Trump and stand behind him. Why the surprise at The Hill?

Neoconservative Bush nominated Harriet Miers, whom even staunch Bush supporters said was deeply stupid. That nomination was aborted, but a lot of others weren’t (See “Bush-appointed judge who halted Trump travel ban nationwide.”)

The sickening “temporary nationwide restraining order, stopping President Trump’s executive order banning citizens of seven countries from entering the United States,” is courtesy of my sickening State of Washington.

Judge James Robart, who was appointed by former President George Bush in 2003, ruled the executive order would be stopped nationwide, effective immediately.
“The Constitution prevailed today,” Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson said in a statement after the ruling. “No one is above the law — not even the President.”
“It’s our president’s duty to honor this ruling and I’ll make sure he does,” Ferguson added.
The ruling, made at the request of Washington and Minnesota, is the broadest to date against Trump’s executive order.

When these two lawyers claim economic harm has been inflicted on our state, you know they’re speaking for Microsoft and Amazon, ideologically motivated entities both. Yes, conservative prattle about cheap labor is simplistic. The tech execs are way worse than businessmen vested in the wealth of their shareholders. That would be a good thing and a belssing.

The truth is that the tech execs are true believers, true radical leftists. They believe all cultures are equal, they enjoy diminishing western culture, and they take sadistic pleasure in replacing local employees with imported ones, banishing Christian bibles and erecting Islamic pray-rooms. By so doing, tech exec keep the locals pliant.

President Trump Vs. The Democrat Dunce-Cap Lobby

Critique, Democrats, Donald Trump, Homeland Security, IMMIGRATION, Left-Liberalism And Progressivisim

“President Trump Vs. The Democrat Dunce-Cap Lobby” is the current column, now on The Daily Caller. And excerpt:

Donald Trump is the gift that keeps giving. The week is still in its infancy, but the president has already made Chucky Schumer cry, fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates within hours of her acting up, and caused the Forgotten Man to go even harder for their president. This Trump accomplished by inadvertently exposing the Democrats as firmly in the camp of Hollywood harridans, tech execs, the immigration lawyers lobby, the global refugee industry; and in the grip of the international human rights octopus.

The Democratic constituency can no longer hide. It’s as though all these ghastly people are wearing the pussy dunce-caps adorned by the Madonna and Ashley Judd protesters. …

About The Republican ‘Facile Argument’ That Obama Halted Immigration. Just Like Trump

Barack Obama, Donald Trump, IMMIGRATION, Logic, Reason, Republicans

Republicans are whinging about “how the media didn’t mind much when Barack Obama halted immigration, why are they making a fuss about the Trump refugee pause.” The whine amounts to one of those tit-for-tat, vacuous, non-arguments. It’s not an arguments of substance.

In fact, I dearly hope the Washington Post is correct and that it’s “facile”  to “claim that Trump’s refugee policy is similar to Obama’s in 2011.” Why my hope? Because, I don’t know about you, but I despised Obama’s immigration policy. If Trump is merely doing what Obama did, then that’s not a positive thing in my book—and it’s not an argument in defense of Trump’s welcome ban.

Moreover, if Obama already did what Trump intends to accomplish with his executive travel ban—then he wasn’t so bad, now, was he? See how the non-argument above can be turned on Republicans? If Obama already did what Trump is doing about refugees—and I hope not—then Republicans and their media were  guilty of ignoring BHO’s “great merits.”

Yes, that’s what happens when you make a you-pulled-my-ponytail-first “argument.”

But since we know full well BHO was G-d awful—that he increased immigration overall, refugees and illegal aliens—it’s obvious he never came close to fulfilling the Trump promise of a Muslim immigration moratorium.

So what is the whine about? Is it to point out that mass media prefer Obama and didn’t hold him accountable? That’s a no-brainer! Better to offer a substantive defense of Trump’s positions on their merit than to keep disgorging dumb case after another to the tune that, “Hey, our guy is just like the other guy, it’s just that the media don’t like him for no reason.”

Our guy is not like Obama and I hope the media continue to hate him. That’s one measure of how well the president’s keeping his promises.
