A Study In Contrasts

Ethics, Media, Morality, Politics, Republicans

The political class is immoral by its very nature and in the way it operates. Witness Ted Cruz’s ego-centered battle with the New York Times, because of “the Gray Lady’s refusal to put his book on its bestseller list.” A book written and promoted on the taxpayer’s dime, as are all books peddled by politicians in office. (Fox News’ Megyn Kelly promised to hype this vanity duel from her vanity perch.)

Contrast this with a man who doesn’t need the political process to increase his riches; the obverse. Donald Trump filed his financial disclosure with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). With much snickering and snide smirks, CNN bobbing heads reported and wrote that Trump was “boasting” his worth was upwards of $10 billion.

What’s there to be humble about?

Lindsey Graham Polling Well With … Lame-Stream Media

Elections, Media, Neoconservatism

For trashing Donald Trump, armchair warrior Lindsey Graham is making news with the media—polling well with the same crowd, only.

In national polls of potential primary voters, Graham is near last. “Trump,” however, “has the support of 17 percent of Republican or independent voters who say they plan to participate in the party’s primary elections or caucuses.” Trump is “in a statistical tie with former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida.” (New York Times)

Trump had some fighting words about the thrust of a Graham bid for more power: Graham wants to bomb everybody all the time. Yet if you search Google for the exact barb Trump lobbed at Lindsey, you’ll find no headline to allude to Trump’s response to the evil, ideological twin of John McCain. Not even by page 9.

Google represents the lame-stream as it leads the rube-hicks to the Right Answers.

Here is the first page of a search worded, “Donald Trump, Lindsey Graham”:

Sovietizing the Suburbs: Rule By Bureaucracy

Barack Obama, Communism, Liberty, Private Property, Race, Racism, Regulation

A critical media ought to be withering about Barack Obama’s plans to sovietize any American suburb deemed too white (barring his abodes, his vacation spots and the schools his daughters attend). Instead, pages upon pages of a Google search yield zero criticism of this racist, racialist and tyrannical infringement upon freedom of association, property rights and federalism.

What can one expect from a female “writer” at The Atlantic, reporting on the regulation called “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing”? A surfeit of affection and approval:

… Obama administration issues a new rule—and a mapping tool—that are designed to help communities address segregation. …

… On Wednesday, HUD took a big step toward fixing its own ineffectiveness, releasing a new rule that requires that cities and regions evaluate the presence of fair housing in their communities, submit reports detailing the presence of segregation and blight, and detail what they plan to do about it. Communities will be required to hold meetings or otherwise solicit public opinion about housing planning and integration every five years, and will have a new trove of resources to assess their progress.

“This important step will give local leaders the tools they need to provide all Americans with access to safe, affordable housing in communities that are rich with opportunity,” said HUD Secretary Julian Castro.

Parts of the new rule will take effect in 30 days.

By law, communities are expected to affirmatively further fair housing through the way they use federal funds, including Community Development Block Grants (used for a variety of development initiatives), public-housing-authority programs such as Housing Choice Vouchers and housing complexes, and HOME grants, which fund the development of affordable housing.

Since our local shysters vie for federal funds; they will be diligent about shattering established communities by busing in problem residents. Once again, middle-class Americans will bear the brunt of Obama’s bureaucracy.

The Atlantic‘s idiot “writer” seems to think that the neighborhood creates the individual, rather than the opposite: Individuals acting together create their neighborhoods. She solicits official vapor about “neighborhoods and communities marked by conditions of slum and blight,” [that] exclude people from well-resourced neighborhoods and communities” …

Greek Economic Crisis A Crisis Of GOVERNMENT Debt

Debt, Economy, EU, Europe

Here’s the thing about the situation in Greece: Among those who’ve had their assets frozen, and are prohibited from accessing their bank deposits, are solvent people like you and me. So you know: Once the US gets to Greece’s situation—you and I will have a hard time accessing our own property.

The Greek economic crisis is a crisis of government-debt, euphemized as a “sovereign debt crisis. During the rule of the “right-wing military junta,” Greece was in the black; it ran surpluses. When successive, socialist Greek governments came to power, in 1974, they strove mightily “to bring disenfranchised left-leaning portions of the population into the economic mainstream and so ran large deficits to finance enormous military expenditure, public sector jobs, pensions and other social benefits.”

Give us your votes, and we’ll give you the keys to the treasury. This ought to sound familiar to Americans.

The latest via Investor’s Business Daily:

Eurozone leaders struck a conditional deal with Greece early Monday that would keep the country in the currency union, but at a steep price for a government that just days ago won a mandate from Greek citizens to stand firm.

Greece’s third bailout, worth 86 billion euros ($95 billion), will require that it enact tough measures, including reforms of the pension and tax systems, budget cuts, and privatization of many of its assets. It must also be approved by the Greek parliament and some of its measures written into law by Wednesday. …
